Of which the people have invested in the state in the first place.
To an extent. For the soldiers
yup
It's not an unfair way to look at it, save the hypothetical sans state.
Hmm
(Which is to say, conceptually, in Nature.)
I get the impression youre playing devil's advocate
correct
Little bit, but more probing for thought than entrapment.
sad that one thinks of examining an issue from it's antithesis (devil's advocate) is often intended to entrap
Well, it oft' is.
sad state of affairs we live in
free-market of ideas, indeed
Though, that tendency may very well derive from Nature as well - it's one of the first skills a wiley child picks up after language.
?
Attempting to entrap via devil's advocate as well as playing with authority..
It's a very primitive format. Yes. But it's there.

that is certainly true in math and the human brain looks for discontinutiies; an idea is best examined at it's extremas
but to imply 'intent'?
i don't see the corollary
discontinuities are patterns
i have an idea; let me try to break it
So, the way it worked for me was knowing what I wanted from authority.. present the extreme case (DSFS) and see if one gets their way.
Like I said super primative
Man ive only been for a little but I must say it's nice to see people discussing things this way
but that is a meta-level compared with the ability to recognize such exceptions
There is formative intent there.
I want x.
How?
not messecarily
I'm not used to internet users trying to really stimulate intellectual discussion as I've just realized
it has nothing to do with want
that is additional information
Want indicates intent, though.
it isn't ABOUT intent; however, you are implying a maliscious intent with regards to taking a devil's advocate position
but before you ever do this, you must first find the discontinuity
it's a thought process
the child does this when they are alone, simply to formulate the concept of idea
