Climate change is a very real threat to our current way of life.
The important distinction is that while a few coastal cities may be underwater in a century and superstorms will be much more common, this will not end humanity.

As you may be aware, there is a mass extinction event currently ongoing. The organisms dying off are mostly specialists that can no longer compete in the charging environment, and those that are particularly vulnerable to pollution.

By the end of the century the surviving organisms will mostly be generalists that have been around for damn near forever anyway.
