If it was 1% of your income then no matter how much you make it’s 1%

2019-09-26 02:11:32 UTC

Then it’s equal

2019-09-26 02:11:42 UTC

But that's not equal, at all.

2019-09-26 02:12:01 UTC

What you lose equal to what you have is

2019-09-26 02:12:12 UTC

If someone makes jack shit, do they still gotta pay 1% of nothing for speeding?

2019-09-26 02:12:21 UTC

Yes

2019-09-26 02:12:23 UTC

thats how

2019-09-26 02:12:24 UTC

It still will fucking suck

2019-09-26 02:12:24 UTC

fines work

2019-09-26 02:12:40 UTC

Imagine making 12k a year and losing 1% of that

2019-09-26 02:12:50 UTC

You need ever little thing you have

2019-09-26 02:12:51 UTC

I assume the percentage is more than 1%

2019-09-26 02:13:20 UTC

It's not about how much the % is, but the basis of %-based fees.

2019-09-26 02:13:35 UTC

Then the punishment is injust

2019-09-26 02:14:29 UTC

Well no, what I mean is that it's more fair if everyone pays the $300. That's truly equal.

2019-09-26 02:14:47 UTC

The mindset of the person paying the $300 is irrelevant.

2019-09-26 02:15:32 UTC

That’s like having two children
One is 16 without a license and the other 17 with a license. If they go out and rob a store would you give them the equal punishment of taking their right to the car away even though it will obviously affect the 17 year old a lot fucking more?

2019-09-26 02:15:58 UTC

<:ThonkOrMiss:531847284703625242>

2019-09-26 02:16:31 UTC

It’s an “equal punishment”

2019-09-26 02:16:33 UTC

That's one hell of a simile.

2019-09-26 02:17:57 UTC

The idea of a punishment is you lose something. How is it equal if one person is undeniably losing more in proportion to what they have to another?

2019-09-26 02:18:25 UTC

12k a year? Jesus when I was working part time at walmart I was making more than that.

2019-09-26 02:18:46 UTC

12K a year is like bottom of the barrel, it was just an example.

2019-09-26 02:18:54 UTC

Ah

2019-09-26 02:19:22 UTC

What kind of ubershite job would pay so little anyway?

2019-09-26 02:19:27 UTC

Like I think in Canada if you live off ODSP, disability, you make around that much.

2019-09-26 02:19:31 UTC

if taxes can have different brackets based on income, so can fines

2019-09-26 02:19:43 UTC

No not brackets

2019-09-26 02:19:46 UTC

That’s bad

2019-09-26 02:19:52 UTC

Just a percentage

2019-09-26 02:19:55 UTC

So it’s just

2019-09-26 02:20:26 UTC

I think that'd only really work if the justice system to fight tickets and the like were fair.

2019-09-26 02:21:00 UTC

You can fight it

2019-09-26 02:21:12 UTC

I’ve had friends who fight and win all the time

2019-09-26 02:21:33 UTC

And they were guilty af

2019-09-26 02:21:39 UTC

Yeah, but I have no idea on what their system is like, how often it happens, just hearsay, so I can't really change my opinion on it to be for it.

2019-09-26 02:22:35 UTC

I think the speed radar gun records a time or something

2019-09-26 02:23:19 UTC

Democrats be like

2019-09-26 02:23:56 UTC

I think for such a more punishing system, it would need to be as accurate as possible. Speed guns haven't really improved on technology all that much from what I know, especially the handheld ones.

2019-09-26 02:24:06 UTC

@LmaoMoni is not white

2019-09-26 02:24:53 UTC

But we all agree we need a simple 15% flat tax right?
