I picked the rift because Im convinced that VR headsets will be upgraded next year with feet controller
i paid 400 dollars for the vive pro m8
controllers*
Put a 2080 aero in, SSD and a SSHD, some ram chips tomorrow and some new RGB fans ❤
used vive pro
Oh yeah I'm picky about my hardware
he even did the samsung odyssey mod to it
I hate buying used
so its even better than a new model
Massive upgrade from my 970 tbh
Comes with being in IT for so long
i use a titan xp
And half the cost too
I prefered the Oculus S for not having to deal with all the fucking camera sensors
waiting for that intel 10nm
I had first gen titan (900 series) and the thing broke last week, so I Decided to upgrade now
I just went up from a 1060 3GB to a 1660 to get up to snuff for VR
wouldnt a used 1070 be smarter
Nice its the sweet spot for VR
I definitely was hugely attracted to the inside-out headtracking
I'm on a 2070
Im not upgrading the motherboard though, its not expensive, I just cba lul
Yeah I couldn't justify the cost to go any higher since by all accounts (and now having had it for 2 weeks) the 1660 is great for 90% of VR applications
I'll upgrade it when I get a ryzen CPU lol
God, upgrading bones is my nightmare
dont buy ryzen
intel is better for gaming at all price points
Ryzen is cheap as fuck
I thought I was SOL cuz the Rift S doesn't work with ASmedia USB 3.0 ports, and of course I have an ASmedia mainboard
My Ryzen does me good no point in upgrading
I have an i7 5th gen atm
that single core performance on ryzen is laughable
Yeah I had that issue at first I had to use my case USBs
Ended up just buying a PCI USB 3.1 card for like $30 at my local Fry's
SSee my motherboard is like first gen x99, but its still good for now 🤔
I want to get a new one eventually for the 2 m.2 slots for SSD sticks tbh
I'm lucky enough to work in a place where I'm 3rd in the pecking order for who gets the old hardware, and the two people above me are gen x'ers who don't want to work on hardware
The S is great because you can set it to camera mode and see your surroundings with the headset on
So I ended up lucking into a seriously nice former-server rig that I just had to drop new storage and a GPU into
Nice always good to get tech handmedowns
