Actually buddhism is much more of a self centered belief system.
It’s not about alleviating the suffering and impurity of others. It’s about doing that for yourself.
So you can mediate and eventually achieve nirvana.

blah blah

2019-09-25 14:45:08 UTC

@Scale_e I have read mentions from individuals who've red the hard material

2019-09-25 14:45:08 UTC

It’s kind of the pinnacle of selfishness.

2019-09-25 14:45:46 UTC

what is wrong with selfishness?

2019-09-25 14:45:53 UTC

Enlightening the masses so they can achieve Nirvana is more of the job of the Bodhisattvas (and the various Buddhas, too) IIRC

2019-09-25 14:46:01 UTC

According to Buddha, nothing.🤷‍♂️

2019-09-25 14:46:05 UTC

Is love the most self-less or self-ish

2019-09-25 14:46:09 UTC

Buddha gave up the enlightened god-state in order to return to the world to help others try do the same

2019-09-25 14:46:10 UTC

Ya well, you can always argue selfless people are really being selfish

2019-09-25 14:46:24 UTC

depends on context

2019-09-25 14:46:28 UTC

well, think about it for a second

2019-09-25 14:46:31 UTC

You can be selfishly selfless

2019-09-25 14:47:09 UTC

two true statements: 1)Hardest thing is to watch the one you love, love another. 2) Love is running into a buring buildning withno thought to yourself

2019-09-25 14:47:23 UTC

Just me that finds it odd how much women like horses

2019-09-25 14:47:24 UTC

@HunDread And here’s where you get into the weeds. There’s a bunch of different Buddhist sects that differ on this stuff.

2019-09-25 14:47:25 UTC

Yes

2019-09-25 14:47:26 UTC

these are contradictory at first glance

2019-09-25 14:47:33 UTC

Is it a sexual dominance thing

2019-09-25 14:47:39 UTC

@Scale_e there's always different sects that focus on different specifics

2019-09-25 14:47:51 UTC

BUT no if you consider that when you love someone, they become apart of you

2019-09-25 14:48:09 UTC

so the thought of losing them is like asking you to disconeect an arm or a foot

2019-09-25 14:48:09 UTC

I just find it sad that the only differences mentioned in Christian sects are fundamentally methodological in terms of the rituals happening in the Church as a building.

2019-09-25 14:48:21 UTC

most of us would rather be dead that cut off a limb

2019-09-25 14:48:30 UTC

thus, love is the most self-ISH

2019-09-25 14:48:36 UTC

Or whether all or only some of the apostles are given due attention.

2019-09-25 14:49:19 UTC

Religions can break themselves because of the many individuals that contributed to building them.

2019-09-25 14:49:27 UTC

It's the entire wizard of Oz sorry

2019-09-25 14:49:29 UTC

Story

2019-09-25 14:49:32 UTC

In juggalo form

2019-09-25 14:49:37 UTC

It's the worst and the best

2019-09-25 14:49:50 UTC

religions like rules aren't for those at the center; they are for containing the firnges

2019-09-25 14:50:04 UTC

Not necessarily @ManAnimal

2019-09-25 14:50:08 UTC
2019-09-25 14:50:11 UTC

but like any rules, they ONLY work to do so if everyone follows them

2019-09-25 14:50:28 UTC

A whole lot of fuckers breaking them rules.

2019-09-25 14:50:43 UTC

those along the center are usually smart enough to break rule without problems

2019-09-25 14:50:46 UTC

yayayyayay

2019-09-25 14:50:47 UTC

but that isn't the point

2019-09-25 14:50:58 UTC

the point is to contain the outliers
