"The term salami tactics (Hungarian: szalámitaktika) was coined in the late 1940s by the orthodox communist leader Mátyás Rákosi to describe the actions of the Hungarian Communist Party in its ultimately successful drive for complete power in Hungary. Rákosi claimed he destroyed the non-Communist parties by "cutting them off like slices of salami."v By portraying his opponents as fascists (or at the very least fascist sympathizers), he was able to get the opposition to slice off its right wing, then its centrists, then the more courageous left wingers, until only those Fellow travellers willing to collaborate with the Communists remained in power."

2019-07-15 06:48:48 UTC

Does that not look exactly like what the left is doing today?

2019-07-15 06:48:51 UTC

holy shit

2019-07-15 06:49:07 UTC

you're making me hungry for szalámi

2019-07-15 06:49:38 UTC

salami
islam
🤔

2019-07-15 06:49:46 UTC

Also @Ayylmao that is how it works we do tend to be like that (referring to comment)

2019-07-15 06:49:46 UTC

The left is doing exactly that: They start by going after the right wing, then the centrists, and even now you can see somewhat of a shift towards attacking dissident leftists.

2019-07-15 06:50:15 UTC

whether its divide and conquer or salami, does it really matter

2019-07-15 06:50:20 UTC

comic sorry*

2019-07-15 06:51:00 UTC

@lunemarie that's a bit of a scary thought

2019-07-15 06:51:16 UTC

innit

2019-07-15 06:51:19 UTC

how’s it scary

2019-07-15 06:51:24 UTC

@Arthur Grayborn the ddr experienced more growth from 1950-1960 than the period from 1960-1970 however, so it seems that whatever detriment suffered by war reparations stopped coming into play by that time

2019-07-15 06:51:24 UTC

giving in to pressures

2019-07-15 06:52:20 UTC

it’s also fun though

2019-07-15 06:52:44 UTC

it is true that poorer economies tend to grow faster but considering that once the ddr was incorporated into germany the east had a lot of money poured into it by the german government i'm not sure if this can serve to make the case that the eastern portion of germany experienced an appreciably higher level of growth post-ddr even with this variable being controlled for
