i'm the god emperor

2019-07-16 03:31:19 UTC

@ManAnimal - Not really.

Consumption signals can drive production levels.
Externalities corrupt all capitalist systems.

The problem with socialism is not theory, but implementation. I can't think of a single person I would trust to implement such a system, at least for now.

2019-07-16 03:31:19 UTC

sucks off israel

2019-07-16 03:31:28 UTC

i'll tell you what countries are 'good'

2019-07-16 03:31:29 UTC

Read my post history

2019-07-16 03:31:33 UTC

lol

2019-07-16 03:31:41 UTC

(((History)))

2019-07-16 03:31:48 UTC

@Arthur Grayborn “In practice, capitalism continually outperforms socialism because socialist leaders are almost always corrupt and inefficient. They're often idiots too, and idiocy tends to kill more people than even the worst kinds of malice.”

This is wrong. Socialism fails because socialism *itself* is a flawed idea. No leader, no group of leaders, no matter how morally perfect they are, can *ever* replace the free market.

2019-07-16 03:31:51 UTC

That isn't capitalist theory

2019-07-16 03:32:25 UTC

capitalism theory involves the role that interest rates plays on those with capital

2019-07-16 03:32:41 UTC

and what they have to do wiath that capital to keep it

2019-07-16 03:33:14 UTC

@Scale_e - The free market itself has weaknesses, because social externalities will always be a problem. Where we run into issues, is that you cannot replace the free market without an exceptionally well devised and well managed alternative.

No corporation, university, or think tank currently has that level of ability.

2019-07-16 03:33:15 UTC

they can't just sit on their money if the interest rates is allowed to naturally rise and fall

2019-07-16 03:33:26 UTC

Imagine trying to argue with socialists

2019-07-16 03:33:46 UTC

social externalities are the role of government

2019-07-16 03:33:50 UTC

I'm a pragmatic capitalist because I think nobody's competent enough to manage a socialist system.

2019-07-16 03:34:14 UTC

again don't confuse governance and ecccccccccccccconomy

2019-07-16 03:34:27 UTC

damn compiler lag

2019-07-16 03:34:29 UTC

I'm a nazi, because my guns are bigger than yours

2019-07-16 03:34:31 UTC

There are no weaknesses in the free market.

2019-07-16 03:34:39 UTC

Best economics

2019-07-16 03:34:49 UTC

well, in an unrestrained free market there is

2019-07-16 03:34:56 UTC

“That’s not a bug, that’s a feature”

2019-07-16 03:35:14 UTC

@Scale_e - If we're both on an insurance plan, I smoke and lie about my smoking to the insurance company, and get lung cancer, guess what? We're both paying for my smoking habit.

...and that's just one of countless externalities in the free market system.

2019-07-16 03:35:21 UTC

Bioshock scenerio

2019-07-16 03:35:34 UTC

Well Nazis and Commies are basicall the same because they arent me

2019-07-16 03:35:35 UTC

blows a hole in the ancap ideal

2019-07-16 03:35:57 UTC

but the market isn't a monolith

2019-07-16 03:36:04 UTC

Video games aren't reality, and require even less reasoning than a book does

2019-07-16 03:36:15 UTC

Terrible example

2019-07-16 03:36:16 UTC

you can assign values to social things as well

2019-07-16 03:36:29 UTC

Someone who keeps a beehive on their farm ends up increasing the productivity of all nearby farms, but because those farms are not paying for the beehives the economic value of beekeeping in a free market system will always be less than its true value.

2019-07-16 03:36:33 UTC

i.e.subsidize and tax

2019-07-16 03:36:37 UTC

And apparently bioshock refutes capitalism

2019-07-16 03:36:41 UTC

Fucking lmao

2019-07-16 03:36:58 UTC

these are government and community mechanisms that can leverage off the free market mechanisms

2019-07-16 03:37:07 UTC

@OsMosler that describes this entire conversation

2019-07-16 03:37:28 UTC

The market is not some supernatural force that cant be messed with at all though

2019-07-16 03:37:48 UTC

well that idea has been totally lost
