Like I did

2019-07-17 15:18:11 UTC

code your own compiler and OS

2019-07-17 15:18:14 UTC

Hope u guys dont mind if I flex here

2019-07-17 15:18:30 UTC

@ManAnimal I will, 2-3 semesters later

2019-07-17 15:18:32 UTC

on your own custom build hardware

2019-07-17 15:18:41 UTC

like i did

2019-07-17 15:18:43 UTC

Actually

2019-07-17 15:18:50 UTC

I already built my own compiler

2019-07-17 15:18:59 UTC

no, designed and built

2019-07-17 15:19:01 UTC

But kernel programming is 2-3 sems later

2019-07-17 15:19:08 UTC

Designed and built, yes

2019-07-17 15:19:27 UTC

For a simple language ofc

2019-07-17 15:19:28 UTC

so you used NAND and NOR gates?

2019-07-17 15:19:39 UTC

?

2019-07-17 15:19:41 UTC

lol

2019-07-17 15:19:46 UTC

No, I compiled a mock language

2019-07-17 15:19:56 UTC

I made the lexer and the parser

2019-07-17 15:19:57 UTC

Imagine not building your own transistors

2019-07-17 15:20:10 UTC

Also engineer of the people is best game

2019-07-17 15:20:21 UTC

transistiors are what make up digital logic

2019-07-17 15:20:25 UTC

No shit

2019-07-17 15:20:26 UTC

@ManAnimal NAND2TETRIS?

2019-07-17 15:20:30 UTC

You're a digital logic

2019-07-17 15:20:34 UTC

na, ASIC design

2019-07-17 15:20:47 UTC

Ah, cool. That's how I learned.

2019-07-17 15:22:00 UTC

initially, we had to use NAND ICs to build op amps, then assemble them in to build a processor design. Moore Machine (sync), Mealy Machin (async) then microprocessor

2019-07-17 15:22:28 UTC

THEN we were allowed to use the real thing: 80486 IC

2019-07-17 15:22:32 UTC

@ManAnimal you're a transistor

2019-07-17 15:23:26 UTC

now, you just plug in an FPGA and write the code. lol

2019-07-17 15:23:52 UTC

Yep. That's about what I did: used NAND gates to create all others, use those to make more complex circuits all the way up to my own CPU and RAM.

2019-07-17 15:24:04 UTC

but the power electronics would have been SO much easier with cool visualizationss

2019-07-17 15:24:08 UTC

Imagine

2019-07-17 15:24:32 UTC

Not carving it out with a laser by hand

2019-07-17 15:24:33 UTC

Smh

2019-07-17 15:24:40 UTC

Then build my own assembler for it, which I use to build my own compiler, which I used to program my own crap-tastic Tetris game.

2019-07-17 15:25:26 UTC

Imagine
Not mining the gypsum and processing the silicon by hand.
smfh

2019-07-17 15:25:31 UTC

I dunno why Sargon didnt use the spergs on this server to build Necromancer for cheap

2019-07-17 15:25:47 UTC

yeah, we had to do that too. writting an assmbler makes you appreciate the shear waste in modern code

2019-07-17 15:26:08 UTC

spergs don't have the discipline to build shit

2019-07-17 15:26:26 UTC

Real men program their shit by holding a magnetic needle to their drives

2019-07-17 15:26:39 UTC
