Look at US institutions now, the ruling govt is trump, but many universities are anti trump
trump is just the president
Leader of the govt
de jure
My point still stands
Institutions don’t just blindly follow the current rulers
de facto the us government is just a regulatory apparatus subject to regulatory capture by plutocrats
academic institutions serve them
Not really
The current biggest lobbyists are oil and fossil fuels etc
But academic institutions are pro green on the whole
I mean you already see what neglecting humanities lead to: people can't discuss things already, it's all emotional tugging and 'there are no wrong people just good and evil people' mentality
I’d argue that’s due to a focus on shit humanities
Gender studies and such
oil and fossil fuels don't represent the plutocracy as a whole + climate science isn't a social science
it's generally easier to bend softer sciences to one's will
Whereas yes, if more people studied law history and philosophy
Yeah I'd say the shit humanities is what you get for neglecting the proper ones
We’d have better arguments and debates overall
ie economics, sociology
It's also related to paying edu providers per degree handed out etc I heard that's happening :p not sure how Tru it is anywhere actually
Urmmm
I’d say education has gone downhill in the UK due to lack of funding but also due to the opening of too many shit universities
N word
The fact of the matter is, some people aren’t suited for academia
And that’s okay
But they’re told they have to go to UNI
but yeah the degree to which there is a consensus on anthropogenic climate change despite the incentives being there to reject it is one thing that makes me find it to be very convincing
And we get all these shit universities with shit degrees
What incentives to reject climate change?
the fact that it's in the interests of those who hold power to reject it
And it is an INTERNATIONAL consensus
Oh so you agree there is man made climate change?
yes
Oh okay cool
I would not be so sure.
it seems quite likely
My bad, misunderstood you
There is a LOT of self-hatred and anti-"west" sentiment, climate change caused by evil whites fits into this postcolonial theory perfectly
