why their philospophy was to centeralize everything
thus leadership saw things that weren't really there
>no executions since 1961
>fully expect execution .... for a non-capital offense
hahaha
too much information lets you see what you want and what you expect
By the time I was in, the focus was pretty much on maximal decentralization.
Clarification: by maximal I mean to the utmost, not complete.
well, to a point. no offense, but the marines are usually in the front TAKING orders from the guys in the rear with the gear
Well, yes.
that's how chain-of-command works
Which is probably why there was the emphasis on small-unit leadership.
not always; like management, some are good at delegating and some want to micro-manage
requiring everyone to explain the 'why, what, and how' takes time. best to let those that are most familar with their specific circumstances figure out how to best effect the goal. You just tell them the WHY you want something done
If i know WHY you need something, I can then CHOOSE from many 'hows' in my tool belt to acheive that objective
Right, knowing the why from the boots on the ground level is useful for that very reason.
exactly.
As Dwight Eisenhower said, "Plans are useless. Planning is everything"
The act of planning allows you to quickly anticipate

But, what I always recall is the mantra of Supervise- Supervise is the most important step.
How is that relevant? Erm.. it's just what came to mind. XD
That's like 'the first rule of warfare is.."

CNN
The gunman
The shooter has been identified as Connor Betts, 24, according to local and federal law enforcement sources.
At a Sunday afternoon press conference, police said they are going looking for any indication of a motive. "There is far too much information to review" before that can be determined, Biehl said.
During the execution of a search warrant, authorities found writings linked to Betts that show he had an interest in killing people, two federal law enforcement sources told CNN.
A preliminary assessment of the writings did not indicate any racial or political motive, the sources said.
Betts was wearing body armor during the shooting, Mayor Nan Whaley said.
He used a ".223 high-capacity" gun and had additional magazines, Whaley said. The .223 caliber is used in weapons such as the AR-15 assault-style rifle that has been used in previous mass shootings.
Nothing in Betts' history would have precluded him from purchasing the weapon, Biehl said. His history with law enforcement included traffic violations for speeding, failure to control and failure to yield.
The weapon used in the shooting was ordered online from Texas and transferred to the suspect at a local firearms dealer near Dayton, Biehl said.
