So basically accusing Poland of being participatory in the holocaust is/was illegal. Sounds reasonable to me.
Its a retarded accusation to make, anyway.

1) Who cares about the other stuff unrelated to the holocaust I din't even mention because they are kinda separate and have to do with Ukraine, not the Jooz.
2) Specifically to accuse the "Polish Nation", which means then entirety of the polity as represented by its legal government at the time.
This is why autism is important in law, terms have very specific meanings

all is right with the world
Yeah, like I said, an on-its-face false accusation
Go read what J-Post and Times of Israel think about that accusation. You might be surprised tbh...
Hi, have we met? I'm Jokerfaic, the guy who doesn't give a flying fuck what Israel thinks
Less so their state propaganda rags
dontcha know? in a free democracy (or what passes for one, as a general thing), every person is responsible for the idiocy of their politicians ..... at least, that's what i've been told
Das fine, but ppl still read them, and if you go speak to an Israeli, you'll quickly learn that the image of Polan during the war and in general tends to be very negative
To a rather ridiculous point
That's nice. When can we kick them off my tax-dollar-titty.
This is just one more reason on top of numerous
y? cuz couldn't kick hitler's ass?
Because France and Britain renegged on their alliance, don't forget
The narrative is that the Polish were happy to help the Germans kill the Jews
which obviously makes total sense
OSKAR
SCHINDLER
WOULD BEG TO DISAGREE
^correction: couldn't unilaterally resist the tug-o-war btween russia and germany.
seems legit <:thunk:462282216467333140>
and is why the Reich had to punish helping the Jews in Poland by the death penality often extended to direct family and/or neighbors
Schindler was German
Yes, but the factories and warehouses he leveraged to save jews were in Poland
What is true is that there was a distinct anti-Jewish sentiment in Poland before the war
What is also true that one of the most notable women activists in favor of deporting the Jews to some place other then Polan cofounded and coorganised an underground ring that smuggled hundreds of kids out of the Warsaw Ghetto. And she never changed her mind about the anti-semitism either. She though, to her deathbed, that Jews in Poland were a bad idea because they would never integrate into a modern nation-state and thus should leave.
(This lady: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zofia_Kossak-Szczucka)
tbh, "integrate or gtfo" is a legitimate sentiment
kinda, the Jews lived there for centuries at this point
otherwise, it's like, what's the point? u tryin to take over or someshit?
thing is they were overwhelmingly very orthodox
and Polan was by no means a sure horse to bet on
so it's unsurprising that, being religiously inclined to self-segregate, and under these circumstances, a lot of them didn't feel like learning Polish would be super-useful
On the other side of the issue, you have the Polish nationalists (and this is the early 20th century, nationalism is at its historic height) who by luck and some diplomatic maneuvering just got their country back after 125 years and were surrounded on 2 sides by recovering imperial powers who considered that territory their rightful clay
So that tended to create a "you're with us, or you're against us" kind of mentality, also rather understandably I think
very understandably
Plus, as much as this is ofc horrible anti-semitism, most orthodox Jews were just unwilling to even consider stopping to be medieval in their modes of social organization/way of life
just look at the orthodox Jews of modern Isael
