About marijuana usage, I was actually more friendly and social and all that when I was a pothead.
It numbs the mind, it makes you softer, and it makes you more open towards people. Aggression is the last thing that MJ causes.
What's more likely is that hard drugs are in play when a drug addict goes on a rampage
Video games, well I can see how it makes people more aggressive, it's probably true to some extent
But does it turn someone into a mass shooter? Highly unlikely.
Men are more competitive and more confrontative by nature, they have a desire to dominate in games, because it's a safe environment where no one gets actually hurt.
Potential mass shooters are naturally drawn to such an environment, obviously. So again, correlation, but not causation.
The other thing is, I've actually spent time with other gamers, I've met them
In real life they're some of the kindest, softest, friendliest people you can imagine. So non-confrontative in fact that it's almost absurd.
What I find more likely is that if we restrict video games, real life aggression might go up. Just going by the same logic as with the war on alcohol.
We live in a very male-unfriendly society these days. Male aggression is being highly misunderstood.
And authority figures like teachers try to repress it to ridiculous degrees.
@ETBrooD you ever read Fight Club?
Didn't read it, just watched the movie
Ok. Well youre hitting on the same points. The concept of a fight club is the same as a mass shooting when you look at it.
Not saying women shouldnt have a place in society, but thye were much better in the kitchen then in our schools
Men indeed want to be in fight clubs, of course the one in the movie is exaggerated, but that's for artistic purposes I guess
I think women in schools is fine, but there should be gender separation. I stick to that.
It's a meaning-of-last-resort, for men who dont have meaning.
For men with nothing to lose
In a similar vein as the one.that starts, "not saying black lives dont matter..."
Oh, hard to distinguish. I know people, including women, who want women to go back to the kitchen and lose their voting rights.
And I think men's meaning lies in male-only clubs. Chess, tennis, football, etc. etc.
These are typically male-dominated or sometimes gender segregated.
Or workshops.
@ETBrooD fair enough, text doesnt translate inflections well
But there is also the protect and provide aspects
Yeah that, too
We can agree that the average man is missing a lot of meaning
Men want to have male role models and male buddies, and to become male role models themselves
This is something that only men are creating for themselves. Society at large doesn't really care.
I think fatherhood is also one of the greatest roles to have.
Fathers are so undervalued for some reason, but I cherish every moment that my father taught me something.
I have a few role models in life, a good mix of male and female
One of them was a Judo teacher, complete opposite personality to mine back then, big guy, like a gorilla, and he just taught us things with no pressure.
Another teacher replaced him when he had an accident, and that one was way too much for me. Too much energy, too driven, too stressful. So I stopped going.
I think these people have a huge impact on our youth.
women have genetically selected men for gullibility and white knighting, this is one of the major factors that allows for the lies to be spread about the role of men in society
They've not done so "genetically", but culturally
In the stone age women had to commit to a relationship if they wanted to survive, so they chose a partner who was strong, assertive and popular. Gullibility is a weakness.
