Only thing that can be done is to ensure the oppression is documented extensively and to spread the footage far and wide within mainland China.
I'm not well versed on this, but as I understand it Hong Kong was ceded 'in perpetuity' to the British after the first Opium War

their demands are sort of irrelevant though, as the chinese government will never give them anything. to do so would be to signal that resistance is possible.
