I was the last kid picked up from school because there was traffic due to everyone panicking and running home or picking up kids and prepping for the worst

2019-07-18 01:21:17 UTC

So anyways, they argued

"The Japanese learned imperialism from us dragging them into the open world
The Turks and Arabs? We exploited and conquered for centuries before they kicked back"

2019-07-18 01:21:32 UTC

and I told them, Before we even went to japan, the japs already conquered Korea

2019-07-18 01:21:33 UTC

Tell that to the Ainu

2019-07-18 01:22:01 UTC

I was in highschool, watching the matter on the TVs in the cafeteria.

2019-07-18 01:22:15 UTC

and the Japs were fighting the Chinese, they didn't even have guns before the Portuguese came and even after that they re-invaded Korea.

2019-07-18 01:22:27 UTC

and then the Koreans rebelled once they got sold guns by the dutch

2019-07-18 01:22:30 UTC

And making bad jokes about it being an inside job with my friends.

2019-07-18 01:22:39 UTC

It's as if conflict is primate nature

2019-07-18 01:22:56 UTC

except MA is lying -- was a civilian (and always has been) ... he wasn't deployed, he had a job on a boat that happened to be in harbor

Later on, because of that matter and others, I joined the Marines.

What

2019-07-18 01:24:03 UTC

Iraq should have been finished in the 90s.

2019-07-18 01:24:22 UTC

Buildings break into pieces not many would remain the size of said building

2019-07-18 01:24:52 UTC

Regardless of the why, the door was opened and the matter needed to be *solved*.

2019-07-18 01:28:05 UTC

So, this was basically the end of the arguement. Now they're upset I called the Belgian's dutch in joke reply. And this was the best reply.

2019-07-18 01:29:53 UTC

Regardless the Green person's argument is that. more or less. you can't argue an industrialized nation with better standards of living can be viewed as a "Net positive"

2019-07-18 01:31:29 UTC

So, me conquering Algeria and industrializing it to the biggest vacation spot in the french empire isn't seen as a "Net positive"

2019-07-18 01:31:33 UTC

Okay, what the hell did you mean with the first half of that

2019-07-18 01:32:20 UTC

Better?

Basically they argue improving a nation's quality of living and industrializing it isn't a positive for colonialism. As the inherent going there and colonizing the place and conquering the natives is just so terrible that all colonialism is evil because of it.

2019-07-18 01:33:38 UTC

Let's set a boundary first

2019-07-18 01:33:57 UTC

What would you consider objectively "positive"?

2019-07-18 01:34:12 UTC

having food on the plate

2019-07-18 01:34:14 UTC

having water

2019-07-18 01:34:17 UTC

2019-07-18 01:34:19 UTC
