Unless that lock is on the proper gun safe
No shit
But a safe should be where your gun is
What I see gun locks be useful for is to prevent your noob offspring from shooting said gun if they happen to find it
Well that really depends
Most kids can get into gun locks
You should have taught em not to touch firearms without permission.
Most gun locks are free and useless
Kids are curious
I've seen some decent ones for vehicles, but they are still easy to pick
What?
Better be safe than sorry about a dead kid
Yeah that's why you have a safe
@Iain_an_séú As a hobby lockpicker I can tell you that 99% of locks are easy to pick
Hey me too
I love locksport
Even the most namebrand locks are sometimes extremely easy to pick, just because assembly line puts a randomised bidding into them
That means - some locks will be randomly very-pick-friendly
You can get extremely-hard-to-pick locks
Those exist too
I know
But the caveat is that they cost a lot or are not easy to get
True I've got a few ABUS padlocks around the house, they were pretty expensive
And ABUS isn't too of the line really
Top*
Normal locks will do their job most of the time though
> if a person is determined to break in - a lock won't stop them
> a shitty lock is enough to discourage an opportunistic thief that would steal your stuff given a chance
True
I picked my sister's luggage in 1 second flat
She forgot the code and needed to get in
That padlock had like 0 protection and I could reach the relase lever right away
The amazement and shock on her face were entertaining
> she lrealised that her lock was not worth shit all this time while she was putting thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on her trips in there
You should see what happens when you unlock someone's car, or impression a key for their house
They get pissed
My friend lost a key to his bicycle chain
He tried cutting and snipping it, but it was all futile
I lockpicked it in 2 seconds
then get a code lock u idiot
