Well we could run with the idea that the Taliban believed the towers were symbols of Americas greatness however really they werent as I previously stated. The conspiracy is in hiding the fact that the building shouldnt have been made with the cheap materials they were.

My suspicion is that maybe a handful of people in the government knew this was going to happen, and decided to let it, and that the shenanigans with aggressively stifling investigation into structural concerns came about because they were basically put together with duct tape (not literally) and revealing this would result in too much lost revenue for various insiders as they're forced to change building practices and renovate expensive architectural developments.
