But I've had dreams when I was younger that, when I woke up from them, I would very briefly be convinced they were real. Usually the ones you really *want* to be real, like winning the lottery.

2019-08-23 14:40:46 UTC

Ah, yeah, that.

2019-08-23 14:41:14 UTC

damn that's a tall order

2019-08-23 14:41:17 UTC

I used to have dreams where flying was no issue whatsoever. But over the past decade or so, they've more often been hop-gliding dreams.

2019-08-23 14:41:25 UTC

but I guess personal flight is too

2019-08-23 14:41:32 UTC

Hell yeah.

2019-08-23 14:41:41 UTC

I'd give anything to be able to fly.

2019-08-23 14:41:53 UTC

I had exactly ONE Lucid Nightmare

2019-08-23 14:42:17 UTC

Ugh, sounds bad.

2019-08-23 14:42:21 UTC

most rare kind as far as I can tell

2019-08-23 14:42:30 UTC

I have plenty of false awakening dreams too

2019-08-23 14:42:40 UTC

I could count the number of nightmares I've ever had on, like, two or three fingers.

2019-08-23 14:43:04 UTC

most of my false awakening dreams involve me going to school or work, mostly work, im 29

2019-08-23 14:43:16 UTC

sometimes im trying to come home

2019-08-23 14:43:16 UTC

The most recent was this year, but calling that a nightmare would be quite generous. It was more like an unsettlingly dark dream.

2019-08-23 14:43:25 UTC

I'm 39.

2019-08-23 14:43:45 UTC

that one lucid nightmare was just a regular nightmare until I obviously realized I was dreaming

2019-08-23 14:44:04 UTC

so I tried my best to imagine some heavy weapons and start shooting back at the raptors chasing me through the commieblocks

2019-08-23 14:44:14 UTC

ooo

2019-08-23 14:44:30 UTC

Yeah, I've never been able to actively change my dreams, to my knowledge.

2019-08-23 14:44:41 UTC

oh yeah

2019-08-23 14:44:49 UTC

also dreams where you harness power or use weapons

2019-08-23 14:44:55 UTC

most of them involve harnessing lightning

2019-08-23 14:45:03 UTC

Usually the only time I can do that is during that special time of morning, when you're still half asleep and the dream is continuing in your semiconscious mind.

2019-08-23 14:45:11 UTC

staring with intent at distant objects only for them to get struck by freaky lightning

2019-08-23 14:45:22 UTC

the thunder from those still spook the fuck out of me

2019-08-23 14:45:28 UTC

Jedi powers.

2019-08-23 14:45:43 UTC

If I fight in a dream, it's usually something not unlike that.

2019-08-23 14:45:58 UTC

I can dream at any hour soo long as the sleep is restful

2019-08-23 14:46:05 UTC

although

2019-08-23 14:46:08 UTC

Yeah, same.

2019-08-23 14:46:19 UTC

I've had periods of 2 to 3 years in my early 20's with zero dreams of any kind

2019-08-23 14:46:28 UTC

then a bout of nightmares

2019-08-23 14:46:31 UTC

In most dreams, I'm not myself. Rather, I'm some sort of character in a story.

2019-08-23 14:46:33 UTC

then a bout of lucid dreams

2019-08-23 14:46:45 UTC

I'm always myself in mine

2019-08-23 14:47:19 UTC

Of course, I've legitimately had moments in dreams that inspire plot points in stories I'm writing.

2019-08-23 14:47:33 UTC

this one person had sound advice

2019-08-23 14:47:46 UTC

get a giant piece of paper with your living area/city/state/continent

2019-08-23 14:47:52 UTC

and start mapping your dreams
