Are gamers who play only strategy still considered gamers?

I am slowly becoming a boomer zoomer

Instead of playing chess or go AoE or CC and of course-StarCraft do just the same.

By harnessing the pure work ethic and "logic" of a boomer and the autist energy of a zoomer I will reach peak human

I mean it is an exercise of the mind as much as it is of the skill and even more-the larger the map, the more numerous and diverse the units, the more complex the objectives and the faster the pace one can enjoy the ultimate challenge.

Strategy only gamers are the only true gamers

I really can't get the one-person shooter, or the RPG type of people.

Real gamers play hearts of iron 4 on 5 speed only no pauses

That's not what I call TRUE strategy.

Strategy is Brood war or Command and Conquer or Civilization.

There you need truly global thinking.

But most people just seem not able to appreciate them.

Civ is way less complex and requires less thought then any paradox game

the first couple C&C games are a bit chunky for me. I really loved Red Alert 2. Campy story and all!

Civ is a glorified children's strategy game

Civ 3 Conquest was the best.

After it it started to get progressively worse.

I admit the idea was brilliant at the start but then Sid just ruined it.

Civ 4 was, and still is, playable but after Civ 5 I just don't want to see it.

Star Craft 2 is still the top, thou.

It is not a coincidence people still hold world championships.

I feel like there are no more good strategies out there.

The genre has died out.

Civ fell down. Sid got corrupted. AoE is trash. C&C has nothing new for DECADES and the only one standing tall is, of course, Brood war, but for how long?

It's getting older too.
