i mean when i played M2TW I always used mercenaries like that

granted

mercenaries are way more valuable

than your regular medieval army

in all honesty

scouts are inferior to just having your normal infantry look ahead

they arent expendable

irl you dont treat mercenaries like meat shields

your own army is expendable

also sent them in to carry the siege equipement

or you lose your mercenaries lul

a lot of mercenaries were highly elite

most mercenaries are

they where in my army

his family buys him armour and a horse

and he becomes a mercenary
