We should teach learning for sure

I remember that we never, in any of the classes, did warmup, except in sports

But the brain requires warmup

You can't get into complex math right away, you need to ease your brain into it

Get used to counting numbers

Even 5 minutes suffices

Then there's much less pain when the lecture starts

And that results in better learning, because pain hurts the learning process

We know this truth for sports, we know it for musical education

In both of those fields, warmup is essential

It's so essential that it can take up to 15 minutes in some cases

The irony being that the more time efficient our old, outdated education system is being made, the less actual efficiency it has

Even creativity is a matter of warmup

Take the writer's block, most people don't know how to get rid of it

There's a new teaching going around that says to "just write"

Write anything, write the most basic stuff, write even nonsense

As long as you keep writing, you'll eventually start writing better stuff

It's the exact same idea of the warmup

I heard that from one of my favorite comedians a good few years ago
