I've heard no-one outside your tiny circles throw out the label of "ethnostate" toward established countries in Northern Europe and Japan.

When normies use word "ethnostate" they always refer to nazis.

Because that's what dictionary says.

I've seen people call Japan an ethnostate, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. Even though their immigration laws are strict, they still allow other people in.

Dictionary is not end all and be all, but it does reflect popular ideas.
