Tbf you can meme on w band and still like them. That’s what I did with linkin park, I grew up listening to their songs so I find them both nostalgic and cringy because I just remember my retarded fake emo kid self dancing like a retard in my room
I think it has to do with me predominantly listening to metal and engaging in the culture. There's a lot of unspoken respect that goes around for musicians because we all listen to and/or play that style of music for very similar reasons. I find it's easier to connect to musicians in that genre than others
