An economic (let alone their eventual goal, military and logistic) alliance between two nations (I'm assuming they think south america is one nation because that's how fucking simplistic their logic appears to be from the outset), separated not just by distance, but by enormous landmass that happens to house other nations they already have prior mutual obligations with, is a level of international-political understanding of a ten year old that just won their first game of Civ
there is absolutely zero incentive for A: any majority of south american nations and Canada to develop a more intimate economic relationship, let alone their own discreet fucking currency, or B: suffer the clear and present consequences of imbalancing their own relationships with their respective neighbors, Mexico and America
this is among one of the most tone deaf fucking "surround america" ideas I've ever percieved, if its even real
