just that... certain libertarian ideas fit better into a homogenous society... certain ones... but in a culturally diverse society... well none of them can fit into that system and work long term

@UnScottable I think Libertarian ideas, anything derived from Liberalism, ultimately is destined to end up where we are today. Its just what happens because others will take advantage of its gaping loopholes and exploit it against us. The kinds of system we were talking about previously that could replace the current order should not be some temporary bandaid to "fix it" then move on to another system, as soon as we move away from it we're back on track to the same destiny as before. Thats my take anyway.

2019-11-15 16:17:03 UTC

I agree with you in so far as fitting those ideas into our current society

2019-11-15 16:17:17 UTC

the libertarian ideas. to be specific

2019-11-15 16:17:28 UTC

gib examples

2019-11-15 16:17:43 UTC

of a libertarian idea?

2019-11-15 16:17:57 UTC

of the type of situation you're referring to exactly

2019-11-15 16:18:49 UTC

i think one reason why small government conservative liberalism is bad is because the "small government" ideal was predicated on a completely different set of circumstances

2019-11-15 16:18:59 UTC

like someone like thomas jefferson was for a "small government" yes

2019-11-15 16:19:03 UTC

basically im positing that something like legalizing marijuana... in our current multicultural society. Would not be desirable. Even though I myself use marijuana.. i dont think it should be legal in our current society. however... if our society was more homogenous then itd fit in better.

2019-11-15 16:19:05 UTC

and the united states had that in the 18th century

2019-11-15 16:19:18 UTC

but jefferson was also an outright anti-capitalist

2019-11-15 16:19:25 UTC

he opposed generalized wage labor

2019-11-15 16:19:30 UTC

thats just a quick example i could come up with on the fly i guess

2019-11-15 16:19:33 UTC

might be a shit example

2019-11-15 16:19:41 UTC

his small government beliefs were built on a foundation of a society made up of independent laborers

2019-11-15 16:20:06 UTC

and that is what the united states was until the latter part of the 19th century

2019-11-15 16:20:40 UTC

@UnScottable Oh, sure, personally I wouldn't want it legalized because its bad for our people but people who openly advocate for 3rd Pos like CT for example say they would have weed legalized but heavily restricted, doesn't see it as contradictory to his Fascistic world view

2019-11-15 16:20:55 UTC

hm interesting

2019-11-15 16:20:56 UTC

I wouldn't say that its inherently Libertarian

2019-11-15 16:21:01 UTC

see i dnt want it legalized at all

2019-11-15 16:21:08 UTC

personally... even though i use it a lot

2019-11-15 16:21:14 UTC

i dont want to see it commodified and marketed.

2019-11-15 16:21:22 UTC

i do kinda lean libertarian in the sense that i'm generally averse to criminalizing things that don't directly harm other people

2019-11-15 16:21:45 UTC

right DiJ... unfortunately our current society.. doesnt need unlimited access to marijuana lol

2019-11-15 16:21:48 UTC

though that is different from believing that cultural institutions should be normalizing or glorifying these things

2019-11-15 16:21:50 UTC

"Harm" can be subjective though

2019-11-15 16:21:54 UTC

and obviously that's not an absolute position

2019-11-15 16:22:20 UTC

im conflicted in a lot of ways with religion because of things like this

2019-11-15 16:22:39 UTC

like before i did a bunch of psychedelics. i was a devout atheist

2019-11-15 16:22:43 UTC

you couldnt tell me anything

2019-11-15 16:23:04 UTC

if the distribution of marijuana remains illegal i would still be inclined to think that consumption shouldn't be

2019-11-15 16:23:16 UTC

i don't think that it's so harmful that it warrants legal action in that regard

2019-11-15 16:23:25 UTC

but yet all the religious types say LSD and mushrooms and etc. are evil and the devil so im like... hmmmmm idk

2019-11-15 16:23:34 UTC

🤷‍♂️

2019-11-15 16:24:25 UTC

i feel without those experiences my world view would not be what it is today and id probably still like bernie sanders lol

2019-11-15 16:25:15 UTC

i mean i know its not healthy lol

2019-11-15 16:25:29 UTC

inhaling burnt plant matter is never healthy

2019-11-15 16:25:37 UTC

That is why I personally would want it restricted, I don't particularly want my people killing themselves

2019-11-15 16:26:08 UTC

i mean i guess in terms of priorities
