Oh certainly

2019-11-14 23:06:21 UTC

is asymmetrical more common on copper lines?

2019-11-14 23:06:25 UTC

75 pm for that connection is incredibly cheap

2019-11-14 23:06:25 UTC

Yeah

2019-11-14 23:06:30 UTC

@Crafty neither

2019-11-14 23:06:36 UTC

I bet you get hardly any drops

2019-11-14 23:06:42 UTC

It's based on company and contract

2019-11-14 23:06:43 UTC

75/m for broadband is not affordable for the overwhelming majority of people

2019-11-14 23:06:52 UTC

@Eccles I didnt say it was

2019-11-14 23:07:02 UTC

True, but I'd argue it's more common on copper since there's lower throughput on the cables

2019-11-14 23:07:17 UTC

Meaning they're more anal about it and try to maxmimize connections through that cable

2019-11-14 23:07:20 UTC

@Eccles they offer a 25pm 9ffering too

2019-11-14 23:07:21 UTC

Don't tell me, wladfa, tell Nathan who thinks that forcing everyone onto overpriced fibre is somehow a good idea

2019-11-14 23:07:52 UTC

You say this like A. I can control it and B. Like it's going to stop <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>

2019-11-14 23:08:11 UTC

All that'll happen is you'll price about a third of the country out of a broadband connection

2019-11-14 23:08:26 UTC

It's going to happen regardless, you might end up with copper last mile but the majority will transform into fibre

2019-11-14 23:08:30 UTC

As more people go onto the fibre packages, the prices will drop

2019-11-14 23:08:37 UTC
2019-11-14 23:08:42 UTC

Might take some time

2019-11-14 23:08:50 UTC

True, but it will certainly happen

2019-11-14 23:08:54 UTC

Take fucking years out here

2019-11-14 23:09:05 UTC

Only got broadband at all here 2 years ago

2019-11-14 23:09:15 UTC

If you're in the middle of nowhere youre not getting it any time soon

2019-11-14 23:09:21 UTC

Unless the gov makes it happen

2019-11-14 23:09:29 UTC

In which case, good luck protesting it

2019-11-14 23:09:47 UTC

If they can't make it happen, they can't turn off copper

2019-11-14 23:09:59 UTC

I'm in an area that created their own fibre backbone as a community project

2019-11-14 23:09:59 UTC

They can and they will

2019-11-14 23:10:04 UTC

Ofc they can

2019-11-14 23:10:10 UTC

You have no right to a copper line

2019-11-14 23:10:12 UTC

They will just end your contract.

2019-11-14 23:10:24 UTC

Then I will vote Labour and you can all have your broadband fucked

2019-11-14 23:10:47 UTC

As if I'm writing the rules and not just commenting on them

2019-11-14 23:10:51 UTC

You're wild mad

2019-11-14 23:11:09 UTC

Yup

2019-11-14 23:11:33 UTC

But yeah, the connection I have is expensive, but the price has dropped dramatically over the past years

2019-11-14 23:11:40 UTC

someone mentioned pensions -

``A Labour government would compensate shareholders by issuing government bonds. Mr McDonnell gave a guarantee that no pensioner would lose out as a result of the nationalisation.
He said Labour had taken legal advice, including ensuring pension funds with investments in BT are not left out of pocket.
As with other planned Labour nationalisations, he said MPs would set the value of the company at the time of it being taken into public ownership. ``

2019-11-14 23:11:50 UTC

Previously a gig symmetrical would be a leased line

2019-11-14 23:12:36 UTC

So they'll replace valuable investment with worthless government bonds, i'm sure that'll reassure them, Crafty

2019-11-14 23:12:52 UTC

£75 pm is the same as Virgin over coax which was awful

2019-11-14 23:12:58 UTC

They're going to make a valuable investment even more valuable
