Copper will stop being viable tho

2019-11-14 23:36:29 UTC

It will be charging people more to receive less, as they do with every service

2019-11-14 23:37:07 UTC

You will get access to bandwidth you currently can't

2019-11-14 23:37:16 UTC

So it will be more

2019-11-14 23:37:16 UTC

Unless you want to pay stupid amounts for a dedicated business line

2019-11-14 23:37:41 UTC

Again I get what would be worth 10k pm 5 years ago

2019-11-14 23:37:48 UTC

For 75pm

2019-11-14 23:37:51 UTC

Exactly.

2019-11-14 23:37:56 UTC

Price is dropping already!

2019-11-14 23:38:14 UTC

Economies of scale.

2019-11-14 23:38:34 UTC

But at some point copper will not be able to be maintained

2019-11-14 23:38:51 UTC

Well, it just won't be cost effective to do so

2019-11-14 23:39:01 UTC

Yes, that's what I said

2019-11-14 23:39:09 UTC

There's no point in doing it when there's a superior medium out there in every possible way

2019-11-14 23:40:11 UTC

they will either have to have universal fibre roll out, or they will need to retain parts of the copper network

2019-11-14 23:40:24 UTC

They are having a universal fibre roll out

2019-11-14 23:40:34 UTC

2050 at the earliest, nathan

2019-11-14 23:40:42 UTC

No no no

2019-11-14 23:40:45 UTC

2030 at the latest.

2019-11-14 23:41:03 UTC

good luck with that

2019-11-14 23:41:05 UTC

Because they're literally going to be disconnecting and selling the copper switching hardware

2019-11-14 23:41:57 UTC

You've got an unrealistic perception of their abilities and competence

2019-11-14 23:43:07 UTC

It's already happening in Europe

2019-11-14 23:43:13 UTC

This isn't Europe

2019-11-14 23:43:13 UTC

We're not the 'leaders' in this

2019-11-14 23:43:35 UTC

So we're not able to learn from their mistakes and learn how they're doing things? ...

2019-11-14 23:43:52 UTC

There isn't the money or ambition

2019-11-14 23:44:00 UTC

But there's already both

2019-11-14 23:44:08 UTC

It's already happening

2019-11-14 23:47:05 UTC

i love how my isp advertise fibre, then it turns out it's 7mb

2019-11-14 23:47:29 UTC

0.5mb up

2019-11-14 23:53:52 UTC

They're probably advertising fibre to your cabinet, then copper to your house (Fibre to the cab)

2019-11-14 23:54:02 UTC

Your house being very far away from the cab, means much lower speeds

2019-11-14 23:54:29 UTC

That issue *basically* goes away once you're on fibre to the prem

2019-11-14 23:58:01 UTC

I'm not going to pay an extra 14 quid a month for no extra speed 🙂

2019-11-14 23:58:54 UTC

When fibre to the prem comes, you're going to get a higher speeds and a cheaper price

2019-11-14 23:59:00 UTC

We've been through this <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>

2019-11-14 23:59:13 UTC

No, you've made a baseless assertion

2019-11-14 23:59:21 UTC

I'll believe it when i see it

2019-11-14 23:59:28 UTC

But all evidence from the past is it won't happen
