sucks cock for gaming

2019-11-07 17:06:50 UTC

No

2019-11-07 17:07:49 UTC

yes

2019-11-07 17:07:54 UTC

it's a hassle

2019-11-07 17:08:07 UTC

you may be lucky and a game may work

2019-11-07 17:08:28 UTC

or not, unless you can be bothered to make it work

2019-11-07 17:08:47 UTC

What games would you like to that arent supported well enough? Proton has made everything so easy.

2019-11-07 17:09:07 UTC

What you're lacking from Steam you get with Lutris

2019-11-07 17:09:10 UTC

For example WoT has ugly graphics glitches

2019-11-07 17:09:55 UTC

I rarely touch windows, but lets not pretend linux is decent for gaming

2019-11-07 17:10:28 UTC

it's bearable if one is willing to put in the effort

2019-11-07 17:11:17 UTC

I respectfully disagree m'sir. Theres a metric shit ton of Linux games or Proton games in Steam.

2019-11-07 17:11:55 UTC

Just recently sound broke in the _native_ WarThunder client for linux

2019-11-07 17:12:46 UTC

and I had to go digging into the documentation of the (proprietary) sound library the game is using to make it work

2019-11-07 17:13:38 UTC

So what changed? The game or your OS?

2019-11-07 17:13:45 UTC

if this happened on windows, the bug would be fixed in a matter of hours

2019-11-07 17:13:55 UTC

Wine staging / Dxvk.

./setup_dxvk.sh install

>>So hard.

2019-11-07 17:14:50 UTC

the game updated; that caused the sound bug

2019-11-07 17:15:20 UTC

Thanks for being honest, but that literally has nothing to do with anything except the game company exclusively

2019-11-07 17:15:47 UTC

It has to do with the fact that there's not enough players on linux for the to care much

2019-11-07 17:15:54 UTC

*for them

2019-11-07 17:16:15 UTC

Many games don't even have native clients, WT at least cares enough to have one

2019-11-07 17:16:22 UTC

Thing is...
The only reason overwatch worked on linux, was from a mass amount of bans, and those bans were reversed after the "Company" noticed it was bans from wine.
So they tweaked their anti-cheat, and boom.
Worked flawlessly.

2019-11-07 17:17:13 UTC

Another example, PES just stopped working after wine update

2019-11-07 17:17:27 UTC

I could try and make it work again, but that's just hassle

2019-11-07 17:17:54 UTC

It's basically companies being assholes cucking linux.
And then make the poor piss excuse that "There's more hackers on linux."
No mate, almost all hacking on games is done on windows.
It'll be more safer on linux, than windows.

2019-11-07 17:18:26 UTC

They are not assholes. The just make sensible business decitions

2019-11-07 17:18:47 UTC

They put in effort proportional to the number of potential customers

2019-11-07 17:18:57 UTC

Yes youre right

2019-11-07 17:18:59 UTC

They are assholes, hell...
Almost all games works on PS4, and that runs Orbis OS, which is linux.
They have no excuses.

2019-11-07 17:19:04 UTC

And linux userbase just isn't big enough

2019-11-07 17:19:27 UTC

PS4 is based on some bsd, I'm pretty sure

2019-11-07 17:19:51 UTC

It is, but the irony is strong in the statement.

2019-11-07 17:20:27 UTC

There a lot more to an OS than a kernel

2019-11-07 17:22:37 UTC

But it just goes to show how even tho it's potentially easier to port, they don't because nobody gives a fuck about BSDs

2019-11-07 17:23:30 UTC

Well, showing how badly ported rdr2 was on PC, even struggling on 2080ti's.
I can give them a benefit of the doubt.

2019-11-07 17:23:37 UTC

besides consoles are great for revenue, because it's all locked in

2019-11-07 19:29:56 UTC
2019-11-07 20:04:08 UTC

They could have called this DOOD but they were too afraid

2019-11-07 20:42:22 UTC

So an indie dev found a way to promise he won't go epic exclusive, and that was to make the game h since Epic's store policies will block it.
Dunno if anyone here backed Subverse but this one looks to be a lot more heavy on the game side of things if anyone's interested.
Kickstarter page (what I'm linking to) is technically sfw, but I'm killing the embed for it because of the subject matter. For another game by the same dev, you can check out Singularity: Tactics Arena, which is coming out of early access real soon (supposedly) and I've linked to the steam page for.
