In a TWD / other apocalypse scenario, once humans realised that the situation isn't going to be fixed, the basic needs are met and focus can turn towards forming communities for mutual protection, fertile young women would become the most valuable commodity for ensuring longevity and would basically be breeding cattle instead of the media depiction of 'basically just men with tits'.
