I really liked the franchise but the second book was a disappointing trainwreck to me

Sure, the world's nice - it's just again, the plot of the second book was some bullshit barely held together.

Kind of like reading lord of the rings, god so many songs

Also, now after mentioning Metro you make me want to play some more Anomaly (good STALKER total conversion for those who wonder, though bugged a bit and with some seemingly nice features that are useless in practice)

The book? It was good. Haven't seen the movie, didn't seem that appealing to me but I am in general less eager for old movies.

The book/story wasn't too long so you may give it a try even if you don't have much time.

A lot of people died after the movie was made due to a scene they ended up having to take out of the movie because the film got fucked up

But again, no real idea about the movie. Seen some random scenes. It seems the kind of movie where you get 2 minutes long shot of some guy standing there full of thought to 'set the mood', before it switches to another shot of his face so you can truly immerse yourself in how he's thinking for another 30 seconds before he actually moves his ass to go and do something.
