Who knows?
The thing is Russia has its ways of always testing the level of commitment the Americans are willing to go to.
And when they see the Americans loosing their shit,
they DO act.
Like their doing nowadays.
Actually Russia knows it can't win an open war.
Define 'winning'
It could 'win' in the Baltics.
That's why instead of trying to win by force they are trying to rally as many countries, tribes and soever as allies against America, rather than try to fight them directly.
And then, when the Yankees come to reclaim the price to show up with a minimum amount of force.
Not so much as to trigger a war, but just enough to deny American influence in the region.
@Weez Yeah, the Baltics could be a win, if they play it right.
Blitz in, then hold until the UN intervenes
Threaten to go nuclear to protect your new territory
Question there is how gay would the EU be and would the Americans really act if triggered?
Same can happen in Turkey, I fear.
They'd sent troops to Poland and a quick reaction to the Baltics
In a prolonged war, they'd push the Russians back
But the war won't be prolonged
It'll be short and vicious.
Give Erdogan nukes, forbid NATO in the region and then threaten an all out nuclear war if NATO interferes?
Meh, Turkey is a little different
The thing is you guys in the West don't understand WHY Putin has the problems he has now.
Turkey is sick of being fucked over by the USA tbh
I believe they do want to remain in NATO as long as it benefits them
But that's dependent on the USA.
And he has them because the Russian people, being well aware of who runs the country and what pieces of shit they are, is fully aware as to where Putin is taking them in the good ol' mad quest by the Kremlin to have world power and tehy don't want that choice.
I think tension will only escalate as the Russians would have to choose to go along this path in order to become the next Reich or repeat Napoleon's mistakes or give up world domination whatsoever.
Really, can't predict where this one will end up.
Russia isn't trying for world domination
It's too complicated.
They're just trying to expand their sphere, secure their future against an ever expanding NATO and EU.
Something NATO said would not happen.
Yes, Russia isn't. Kremlin is!
Why do you think they are the same?
*Kremlin* is always trying to conquer the world.
It has been.
That's not true.
Ever since its inception.
There's no evidence of that.
Maybe under the USSR.
