Is India really going well nowadays?

2019-09-21 15:11:39 UTC

I mean I personally liked Modi cause Bharata will face some difficult times down the road as the rest of the world, but isn't he too authoritarian?

2019-09-21 15:12:33 UTC

He's harnessing the power of social media like no other. The influence of his party on the internet has influenced lots of my people

2019-09-21 15:12:58 UTC

I know it may be difficult matter for you to talk about and the national congress is corrupt as sh*t but the thing is, but is he starting to tae freedoms away?

2019-09-21 15:13:30 UTC

I recently heard of that case of people being jailed for playing on their mobile phones and it doesn't sound well for me.

2019-09-21 15:14:46 UTC

On the other hand the Pakis are nasty and daring by nature and there must be a strong figure to suppress them but I really don't know man.

2019-09-21 15:15:14 UTC

It's getting really complicated in our day and age to discern good from evil.

2019-09-21 15:16:35 UTC

What I really hate about the English is their inability to see past their blind interests sometimes.

2019-09-21 15:16:56 UTC

Can't really say, but there has been some controversial decisions lately.
The indifference towards people being killed for "beef" and the way those murderous cow vigilantes go scot free.
The NRC leaving many legitimate Indian citizens out of a recent state census in the state of Assam to weed out immigrants.
Modi's deputy recently making controversial statements to impose Hindi as the national language despite each states especially South India having cultures historically opposing that.

2019-09-21 15:17:22 UTC

Like with Pakistan. They have created a monster even they can't control, but keep feeding it. Why? I don't know.

2019-09-21 15:18:00 UTC

Suspicious arrests of opposition party leaders, also release of many criminal politicians, many of who were even given a parliamentary ticket

2019-09-21 15:18:25 UTC

No world leader seems to be "good" these days

2019-09-21 15:19:07 UTC

I really hope you fair better, cause hope is low in the modern world and Bharata is one of the few remaining bastions of it.

2019-09-21 15:19:14 UTC

I mean it sincerely.

2019-09-21 15:19:29 UTC

You are **THE OLDEST** ones around here.

2019-09-21 15:19:33 UTC

Our economy is failing to take advantage of Trump's shenanigans with China. We seriously have a great opportunity to gain a lot in this trade war.

2019-09-21 15:20:28 UTC

No one can beat India in culture and history, not the West, neither the East, nor even Egypt and Mesopotamia.

2019-09-21 15:20:47 UTC

And this world can use some of this ancient wisdom, really.

2019-09-21 15:21:12 UTC

I know about the pakis, but come on-you are 10 times more than them!

2019-09-21 15:21:47 UTC

Some state governments are "Hindu"ising history though.
Like their disregarding the efforts of the Moghul empire for example

2019-09-21 15:22:10 UTC

Some radicalists even believe the guy who shot Gandhi dead was a hero to the Hindus.

2019-09-21 15:22:26 UTC

How are the Hindu vs. Dravidian relations going?

2019-09-21 15:23:01 UTC

I know historically that's been the root problem on the subcontinent.

2019-09-21 15:23:18 UTC

Problem older than the muslims themselves.

2019-09-21 15:23:40 UTC

Nothing much as of late. South India has been relatively far ans free from the chaos of the north.

2019-09-21 15:23:55 UTC

The only conflict is linguistic

2019-09-21 15:25:11 UTC

Like Hindi can't be enforced on the south because historically the Aryan culture of the north is different from the south, so it really can't be much of a unifying national language

2019-09-21 15:25:25 UTC

Are Modi's radicals tensioning the relations with the south or is the south just treating them as something very old and normal?

2019-09-21 15:25:58 UTC

I mean is there a real danger of splitting the country or Modi isn't so bad?

2019-09-21 15:27:06 UTC

Well, a southern state recently had their CM thrown in favor of a pro Modi one because of the coalition collapsing.
But so far, there's been no controversial decision.
Apart from this, Modi's barely made a political impact in the south.

2019-09-21 15:27:27 UTC

It's all regional federal coalitions that hold power here

2019-09-21 15:28:18 UTC

And how is development in the south?

2019-09-21 15:28:58 UTC

Did Modi do something to boost out the economy in the southern states or fight corruption, or is it just business as usual?

2019-09-21 15:29:09 UTC

Business as usual

2019-09-21 15:30:11 UTC

The southern states have generally done well, they have healthy literacy rates and much of the contribution to the service sector, especially IT, comes from here

2019-09-21 15:31:14 UTC

In fact, they're quite diverse from the north, so is the northeast.

2019-09-21 15:32:43 UTC

The general image of the stereotypical Indian in Western society is generally of a Northerner, you know the typical "street shitter pajeet", the "creepy internet guy who's hungry for Bobs and Vagene", the "stereotypical accent", brown skin, Sikh turbans etc.

2019-09-21 15:33:03 UTC

I'm not from the West.

2019-09-21 15:33:16 UTC

At least, I do not consider myself to be one.

2019-09-21 15:33:22 UTC

So, I know better.

2019-09-21 15:33:47 UTC
