I believe you are not that familiar with Russian culture or the KGB "etiquette" but generally they refer to the Americans as Yankees when calling for world supremacy.

The Russians have a fair criticism to the USA, but should apply it to themselves sometime.

I mean they blame the Yanks for everything-they even tried blaming you for the the forest fires in Siberia this August, and they always try convincing the lesser people of the world that there are these GOOD GUYS in the East-east of the Oder and Danube rivers in Europe who are just around the corner ready to come and rescue them when those evil Yanks come in to steal their lands, resources and labour.
