Not really
Especially with accidents, freight damage, etc
Are you sure they're not telling you this to scare you>
One accident can cost a company millions
No
Because I did research into being an owner operator
If what you're saying is true, and you are a trucker, you are the #1 most vital aspect of the entire economy.
And learned what costs I myself would be required to pay from a friend who is an owner operator
You are the least replacable person in the system.
But I am replaceable
A robot ran a load from phoenix to chicago accurately
Nothing would get to Walmart or any store without you
Not to mention
Thing about the exponential advance of technology
Take cell phones for instance
Think of where we were 5-10 years ago vs now
They could clear up a few humdrum routes, but having an AI truck navigate traffic and not be a retarded GPS is not going to replace all truckers.
I am smart hence why I am getting my degree in cybersecurity
Just mot
Most
The truckers replaced the trains, and the trains replaced the wagon trails, but those all needed people to function.
Particularly long haul guys
You still have to have some guys run in cities because you cant trust robots to navigate cities
But that eliminates alot of jobs
Trucks havent replaced trains
Trains carry many millions of tons more freight than trucks every day
But their range is limited.
They require their entirely unique infrastructure
There are entire truck divisions dedicated ti moving freight to and from rsilyards
Yes, because the trains can't do it themselves
Those guys are especially under threat of automation
And people build new towns that the trains can't go
The port guys too
Flatbed is safe because you have to have a guy working the load every 2 hours
Reefer is eh
It'll all find ways of connecting.
But aside from that and maybe certain tankers trucking is easily automated
So why do you think they've waited so long?
Because the tech wasnt there
It is very nearly now
As tech advances and becomes cheaper it becomes less ideal to have humans involved
