Besides the forefathers didnt create America for it to be a country of migrants... It was created by anglo-saxxan protestants for anglo-saxxan protestants. The forefathers wanted a place for their future generations to flourish and benefit from their sacrifice.. America isn't an idea, its a people. Perhaps if specialized labor is needed at a specific time and for a specific purpose, migrants are a good idea.. for example german scientists during WW2. So we could gain an advantage and technology.

2019-10-09 23:39:46 UTC

But just.. migrants for the sake of migrants... That never was the purpose of America.

2019-10-09 23:41:14 UTC

Also we have admitted more then 50 million people from foreign countries since just the 60's. I think we have plenty of migrants already lol.

2019-10-09 23:53:08 UTC

First that is kind of a mythology. Anglos are the fourth largest minority in the US the largest is German-Americans. Beyond that the first Americans were not homogenous. You had Puritans, Cavaliers, Scotts-Irish, and Quakers. They did not get along and in fact often thought of each other as completely degenerate (read some of the Puritan observations of the Scotts-Irish. They make David Duke look positively multi-cultural).

But you are quite correct that the *purpose* of immigration is to *make more Americans* and that is where we have a problem. Official legal on-the-books we naturalize about 600K a year. We can totally integrate that number we could likely go up to 1M and successfully turn them in to Americans. The problem is the **millions** of non-citizen visa walkers and border jumpers. That is too big a bit to swallow. Without enforcing immigration law we cannot turn that many people into Americans......

2019-10-09 23:54:15 UTC

Well see I think we are finding out that we actually cant integrate even 600k a year. Also what is common among the puritans.. cavaliers, scotts-irish and etc.

2019-10-09 23:56:18 UTC

Also keep in mind that half of our country is telling them they dont need to or should even want to integrate, because thats "racist".

2019-10-09 23:57:59 UTC

OK those people are idiots.

2019-10-09 23:58:13 UTC

I think we just need to take a step back and really look at whats happening to our country. Its traditions... heritage... ideals... are under attack. Being systematically destroyed... if we cannot find a identity to unify behind that goes beyond just being an American... well then what it means to be an American... will be totally changed before our eyes.

2019-10-09 23:58:56 UTC

Then our desires... our thoughts of what America WAS.... well it will be no more... hate speech laws.... no right to bear arms... etc etc

2019-10-09 23:59:13 UTC

Being American is not complicated. Go on Amazon and look for a complete Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Federalist Papers. It's like a pamphlet. And unknown to most who were 'born American'

2019-10-10 00:00:30 UTC

Yessir... now read the 2nd federalist paper

2019-10-10 00:01:22 UTC

he clearly outlines the identity of America, and it goes beyond just an idea. let me see if i can pull out an excerpt real fast

2019-10-10 00:02:22 UTC

here is a nice summary

2019-10-10 00:02:35 UTC

"Jay continues that there is no longer a common consensus that America's prosperity depends on being firmly united. At the time of writing, some politicians (with increasing amount of supporters) argued that the country should not have a central government, and should instead exist as separate sovereign states. Jay's aim is to answer this argument. First, he contends that the country is already united in several natural ways. The geography of the beautiful land suggests that we remain a united people because the navigable streams and rivers, which encourage transportation and trade, connect the states. More importantly, he argues that the people worship the same God, come from the same land, speak the same language, have similar manners and customs, and believe in the same principles of government."

2019-10-10 00:03:28 UTC

John Jay was onto something... the true identity of America that will unify us and keep our ideals intact for many generations

2019-10-10 00:05:24 UTC

Jay was a little to into centralized government for me but that was the point of the Federalist papers to layout the positive argument for *even having* a federal government. As to the part you quoted I agree. Like I said the purpose of immigration is to *create new Americans* to assimilate them into that same language custom and manner.

2019-10-10 00:05:42 UTC

This goes to a more fundamental question... of whether or not these migrants and etc... even WANT to do this

2019-10-10 00:05:48 UTC

so should English be an official language?

2019-10-10 00:05:52 UTC

let alone if they can... Honestly.. im not sure

2019-10-10 00:05:57 UTC

and id say yes

2019-10-10 00:06:10 UTC

if you believe in the idea of what america was founded to be, then english should be our national langauge

2019-10-10 00:06:38 UTC

btw how many English people will i piss off with some Irish rebel songs

2019-10-10 00:07:08 UTC

haha well not me cuz im partly irish

2019-10-10 00:07:19 UTC

2019-10-10 00:07:30 UTC

2019-10-10 00:07:31 UTC

NornIrishh

2019-10-10 00:08:21 UTC

Hence my concern about the *rate* at 600K (or 1M) integration can be successful. My gr. Granpaw nicht sprechen Engles. But given time and social pressure here I am and I love trucks motorcycles and guns as much as any other American and speak more Mexican and even Russian than I do German.

2019-10-10 00:08:41 UTC

anyways found some civil war songs that I just are so catchy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkpk0-0cfVU

2019-10-10 00:08:51 UTC

I think your concern is well-founded

2019-10-10 00:09:28 UTC

The *legal* rate is entirely acceptable. That is not the problem.

2019-10-10 00:09:37 UTC

See id disagree there personally

2019-10-10 00:09:51 UTC

But I am more of an isolationist

2019-10-10 00:09:58 UTC

It's actually lower my familly came over in the Gilded Age when the *legal* rate was higher.

2019-10-10 00:10:14 UTC

Mainly because we have so many problems that need to be solved domestically

2019-10-10 00:10:27 UTC

such as the issue of homelessness you all touched on earlier

2019-10-10 00:10:37 UTC

perhaps there can be a day we open up the gates again... so to speak

2019-10-10 00:10:39 UTC

ah yes when the Germans and Irish were the degenerates during those days, for some reason

2019-10-10 00:10:42 UTC

but right now... we need to close them

2019-10-10 00:11:01 UTC

Glad to see America embarassing itself even more
