You can have the Italians if you want

2019-04-09 11:36:08 UTC

Brits were too busy getting bombed by the nazis and America too busy fighting Japan

2019-04-09 11:36:20 UTC

Meanwhile soviets are actually on the front lines fighting

2019-04-09 11:37:05 UTC

The Brits bombed the Germans more than the other way around

2019-04-09 11:37:27 UTC

Eventually when they got the chance with the soviets pushing them all the way back to Berlin

2019-04-09 11:38:29 UTC

It’s not easy fighting a war in two fronts. I mean you guys can barely fight a war in Finland sooo

2019-04-09 11:38:56 UTC

Ussr was also fighting the Japanese in Manchuria and Korea

2019-04-09 11:39:05 UTC

Do on two fronts, perhaps three with the finns

2019-04-09 11:39:55 UTC

What's your opinion on strasser?

2019-04-09 11:40:09 UTC

That was at the very end. The Chinese did most of the fighting. And by the time the empire was collapsing the Soviets went on a land grab.

2019-04-09 11:40:21 UTC

In northern Asia

2019-04-09 11:40:33 UTC

>implying the yanks and Brits didn't do the exact same thing in Europe

2019-04-09 11:41:10 UTC

Yanks dropped the bombs on Japan just so that the soviets couldn't liberate the northern island

2019-04-09 11:42:12 UTC

For the yanks it wasn’t as much of a land grab because they didn’t annex territory themselves

2019-04-09 11:42:33 UTC

Hm American control of Japan after the War seemed pretty annexed

2019-04-09 11:42:45 UTC

The Soviets not only build up puppet states, but took land for themselves

2019-04-09 11:42:54 UTC

Japan was a puppet state

2019-04-09 11:42:59 UTC

*Thats exactly what the west did*

2019-04-09 11:43:22 UTC

No America didn’t take land for itself

2019-04-09 11:43:43 UTC

They got no additional territory out of it

2019-04-09 11:43:48 UTC

Stalin's control of Eastern Europe was only supposed to be limited to get rid of the fascism there, but after his death, Khrushchev exploited it

2019-04-09 11:44:14 UTC

Sending in tanks to crush communist revolutions in czechiaslovakia and Hungary

2019-04-09 11:44:25 UTC

Revisionism

2019-04-09 11:44:54 UTC

Stalin was all for continuing the control

2019-04-09 11:45:45 UTC

He obviously wouldn’t want to give up his newly won territory would he?

2019-04-09 11:45:57 UTC

Stalin controlled the land after 1948 as much as the Americans and Brits controlled France

2019-04-09 11:46:10 UTC

As well as Italy

2019-04-09 11:46:33 UTC

France left NATO so I would hardly call them a puppet

2019-04-09 11:46:36 UTC

The amount of poor partisans who lost their lives to CIA...

2019-04-09 11:46:48 UTC

France was basically forced into NATO

2019-04-09 11:46:52 UTC

"Join or die"

2019-04-09 11:47:06 UTC

But they left, so how do you explain that?

2019-04-09 11:47:32 UTC

France is still in NATO, what are you talking about

2019-04-09 11:48:07 UTC

France left NATO, during the Cold War, and then rejoined after it ended

2019-04-09 11:48:33 UTC

Because of the Gaullists and socialist party?

2019-04-09 11:49:00 UTC

Any and all uprisings that occurred even outside of NATO, in Western Europe were crushed by it

2019-04-09 11:49:14 UTC

Take COINTELPRO for example

2019-04-09 11:50:19 UTC

The French government may have been away from NATO, but its implications and debt to it were immense

2019-04-09 11:51:01 UTC

But by leaving NATO they showed their own independence

2019-04-09 11:51:14 UTC

They weren’t a puppet of USA anymore

2019-04-09 11:51:16 UTC

Were they really independent though
