Of course production decreased after the communist took over. They had just gone through a massive revolution! The country was a warzone. Plus before the revolution the russian working class was being immensely overworked and underpaid by the Bourgeoise! And they lost a lot of land, with much of the Russian Empire's territory becoming independent countries. It's only natural production would decrease for a while. But after they healed from the revolution the Soviet Union began producing much more than the Russian Empire.
