and u wonder why trump kept his private security and military around him most of the time
secret service didn't protect jfk...they left him unprotected
the secret service still protect Trump don't they?
they were under orders..and not by jfk
current or former elected officials under secret service protection have the option of rejecting secret service protection in favor of their own protection services
ya, If I remember correctly, they are a part of the Department of Homeland Security, which means they get their order from the head of DHS
majority of the secret service operates across the country but oddly enough not protecting most elected officials ...most of them run branch offices in major cities
someone talked in <#801170172723462204>
well, we're not mods....
most elected officials, even those in dc..are not under secret service protection
Mods look in here
@isoboto Never mind they deleted it
don't they only have to protect the president, the VP and special cases (any credible threats)? ie, Sarah Sanders?
@R Y A N erase ur talk in <#801170172723462204>
secret service handles protection details for pres/vp and some select positions in elected office...and even some office dept heads
that's what I thought ya.
but like i said, those they do protect have the option of opting off secret service protection in favor of private or military service protection
that option wasn't around til the clintons oddly enough...i guess they needed a way to sneak around without secret service following them

@Splash Mountain Queen That's what happens when you're half black and half Indian
ya, but I do believe that the president actually can't opt out, Trump had his own detail, but the Secret Service was still there
actually 1/2 jamacian and 1/2 indian
she's an anchor baby for usa
hmm, can someone who wasn't born in the US be a VP? (non related to the topic, just wondering)
no
but that didnt sstop Kamela
~~Ask Obama~~
^^^
the constitution specifically say, the president has to be a US born, does it say the same about the VP?
Kamala was born in Oakland California though
well the laws on that aspect are suspect considering it used to be both parents had to be usa citizens for a baby to be born outside of the usa to be a usa citizen
imho, they changed the laws so 1 person could be a usa citizen ...but it would make every child born from an american soldier in another nation during wartime would make them automatically a usa citizen
but when they changed that law comes into question
really? today the law is only 1 has to be a US citizen ( I am an example, my father is a US Citizen, so I am)
was it before or after obama's birth
Obama is older than me....
if the law was changed after obama's birth, then he woulda been an illegal president..if changed before his birth..then he's a legit president
For persons born between December 24, 1952 and November 14, 1986, a person is a U.S. citizen if all of the following are true
The person's parents were married at the time of birth
One of the person's parents was a U.S. citizen when the person was born
The citizen parent lived at least ten years in the United States before the child's birth;
A minimum of 5 of these 10 years in the United States were after the citizen parent's 14th birthday.
Since Obama was born in 1961, this is the paragraph you are looking for (assuming he wasn't born in the US, if he was.... well he is a US Citizen)
from this paragraph, it looks like he is a US citizen anyway.
but to be a president it's not enough to be a citizen, you also need to be a US born. (which I'm pretty sure he is so...)
both obama and ted cruz were canadian citizens for a while before their parents moved them to usa
ok, having duel citizenship doesn't make you unamerican
