Typically touching where you want the center of focus to be is how you do it on a smaller camera or any phone. With big boy DSLR cameras, you can manually adjust the focus using a ring slider around the lense. Using the viewfinder helps immensely with that task

@mightytrump is correct on the focus ring on the lens. I'm lucky he didn't fly away before I was able to manually focus on em. Unfortunately my lens is not the fastest or best, but sometimes I get some cute birds ☺️
