And I didn’t say it was a territory, I said it was “like a colony”

2021-01-31 22:05:20 UTC

That’s territory

2021-01-31 22:05:31 UTC

The 13 colonies were British territory

2021-01-31 22:05:39 UTC

And I was reading to NK, not the entire Korean Peninsula

2021-01-31 22:05:42 UTC

Hawaii was an American colony, same with the Philippines

2021-01-31 22:06:05 UTC

I made a comparison to how the Chinese had their mitts on the place.

2021-01-31 22:06:29 UTC

USSR enabled the NKs to attack, the Chinese helped them not collapse

2021-01-31 22:07:24 UTC

I think the Chinese Civil War was still going into 1948 or 9 🤔

2021-01-31 22:07:36 UTC

Yeah the USSR used their T-34s to help attack as well. But the main push back was when USA troops got so spread thin, that China set up ambushed along the big road back.

2021-01-31 22:07:54 UTC

what?

2021-01-31 22:08:23 UTC

The US wasn’t the only country there, tons of Western countries sent troops

2021-01-31 22:08:51 UTC

Yes I know, but more USA troops when above the parallel and got pushed back.

2021-01-31 22:08:55 UTC

The Chinese crossed the Yalu and the UN was too arrogant to realize the Chinese would get involved

2021-01-31 22:09:19 UTC

The Chinese outnumbered the US 5:1

2021-01-31 22:10:03 UTC

So if they *hadn’t* pushed back the UN, I would have been astonished

2021-01-31 22:10:15 UTC

Mhm

2021-01-31 22:11:13 UTC

Considering it was a fighting retreat, the UN did very well

2021-01-31 22:12:13 UTC

Oh yeah. But it was still brutal.

2021-01-31 22:12:40 UTC

Largest and most successful evacuation by sea in US history. The worst winter combat in US history and a Marine division fighting 4:1 odds and making it out

2021-01-31 22:13:44 UTC

One survivor made a comment along the lines of “it was like watching 5 of your friends die, wonder how you made it past THAT ambush...looking back now, it’s a wonder any of us made it out alive”

2021-02-01 00:38:12 UTC

Myanmars military just staged a coup against its leader

2021-02-01 02:01:10 UTC

as in today?

2021-02-01 03:38:10 UTC

my dad had me watch the 6 minute cut of the yuri bezmenov interview. Man was it worrying. I'll watch the whole thing at some point, but it def worth checking out

2021-02-01 04:24:35 UTC

I wouldn't have been *that* astonished. The Finnish faced worse odds during the Winter War. A lot depends on how well the opposing troops are lead, rather than just how many there are.

2021-02-01 04:38:00 UTC

It goes quickly, fascinating interview.

2021-02-01 12:57:33 UTC

I had watched the full 40 minute interview, dam thing is both scary as fuck but very insightful on whats going on today

2021-02-01 16:23:15 UTC

this is great

2021-02-01 16:23:35 UTC

was looking up the proposed 28th amendment and it lead to this golden article

2021-02-01 16:26:35 UTC

Which one

2021-02-01 16:26:52 UTC

There are a number of proposed 28th amendments

2021-02-01 16:26:56 UTC

will grab the article

2021-02-01 16:27:21 UTC

this is the trash one

2021-02-01 16:27:59 UTC

Oh

2021-02-01 16:28:02 UTC

That one is trash

2021-02-01 16:31:45 UTC

this one is good https://apnews.com/article/62a8b65326e2434c91e605c1fa983875 but it would require the states to pass it by 3/4 majority in the legislature which will NEVER happen

2021-02-01 16:32:15 UTC

as much as I HATE the AP and the bulk of the article is ragging on a couple of states

2021-02-01 16:33:10 UTC

basically paragraph 3 and paragraph 5 are what matter will copy/paste here

2021-02-01 16:33:18 UTC

mendments must be proposed by two-thirds of both houses of Congress, or by a constitutional convention convened by two-thirds of the state legislatures. The latter has never happened (all 27 amendments have been proposed by Congress), but, in either case, a three-fourths majority of the state legislatures (or conventions) is required to ratify.

2021-02-01 16:33:40 UTC

I take that back P3 and P5/6 are what matter
