An Austrian general of some sorts?

2021-02-17 15:15:57 UTC

Okay, I looked it up and he is Franz Joseph 1 of Austria.

2021-02-17 15:18:43 UTC

Ah

2021-02-17 16:46:51 UTC

You know because of the beard my first assumption was Chester A. Arthur

2021-02-17 16:52:46 UTC

he kinda looks like Otto van Bismarck

2021-02-17 16:55:31 UTC

He kinda does.

@Zilla Sherman did far more than destroy people's livelihoods. Georgia was home to the Confederacy's transportation hubs like Atlanta and Savannah, so he absolutely destroyed far more than just plantations and random businesses. It was total war and definitely did lead to the eventual collapse of the Confederacy.

2021-02-17 17:10:18 UTC

Was what he did controversial at best? For sure. But to say it didn't lead to an earlier surrender is a bit ignorant.

2021-02-17 17:10:24 UTC

in a way he sort of won without fighting

2021-02-17 17:10:34 UTC

He did fight

2021-02-17 17:10:50 UTC

There were casualties on both sides.

2021-02-17 17:13:51 UTC

um

2021-02-17 17:13:53 UTC

uh

2021-02-17 17:14:06 UTC

he did __less__ fighting

2021-02-17 17:23:17 UTC

2021-02-17 17:23:56 UTC

first black democrat senator was in the 90s

2021-02-17 18:15:13 UTC

and “independent fact checkers” don’t understand that Senators are not the only Congressmen

2021-02-17 18:26:14 UTC

Two words - **Straw man**. "During an attack, divert attention by focusing on a minor *but related* issue." It's a quote from class material at my liberal high school, on the topic of fallacies. This motte-and-bailey sort of approach is pathetic

2021-02-17 19:51:13 UTC

oh dear

2021-02-17 20:13:53 UTC

People definitely take it as a slur

2021-02-17 20:14:02 UTC

it was used as one during WW2

2021-02-17 20:21:15 UTC

It has everything to do with politics. Every general who wins wars does so by brutal actions. It's just that the ones with political office get to paper over their history by giving press reporters 800$ steak dinners.

2021-02-17 20:26:28 UTC

For more on this, watch Richard David Hanson's defense of Patton. He lays out numerous generals in his opening statements who were unfairly mischaracterized by the media smear merchants for greed.

The Media in the South took the low-hanging fruit. They knew everyone in the South hated Sherman, so they lied and defamed him so that Southerners would buy their product. They didn't want the truth, they wanted money.

2021-02-17 20:27:31 UTC

Just because the Media is going after somebody you hate does not make them inherently correct.

The fact checkers are no longer fact checkers but liars for hire.

2021-02-18 17:29:41 UTC

Why what happened

2021-02-18 17:55:42 UTC

She asked what was Pearl Harbor so I said it was an attack done by the japs just to try and keep it short and I have a meeting with the principal tonight

2021-02-18 18:07:55 UTC

who?

2021-02-18 18:07:57 UTC

a teacher?

2021-02-18 18:21:52 UTC

lmao

2021-02-18 18:33:59 UTC

yeah

2021-02-19 00:14:36 UTC

Just let him know that you understand how hard it must be to put up with all the teachers unions and the beaurucratic paperwork, and that it's a great coping mechanism to hammer a kid for not being politically correct in an attempt to verify their self-worth.
