I mean Mormons themselves don’t worship Mormon, do they?
No, but some people think we do because of the name that is so common for us
The name "Mormon" was given as a label for us by people who hated the Church. The extermination order was also given to kill all "Mormons" so like
Yeah
But the name Mormon would still apply to you cause you believe the exact same thing Mormons do right?
I am a "Mormon" through and through
But we don't like to be identified by that name anymore
But it's whatever
What would you prefer to be called
Well thats still Mormonism just with a rebranded name
It's not a rebranded name lol Mormonism was a rebranded name of Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints @hyperiacob
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, often informally known as the LDS Church or Mormon Church, is a nontrinitarian, Christian restorationist church that considers itself to be the restoration of the original church founded by Jesus Christ.
Same thing
As long as you understand that we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you can call us Mormons lol
Ok
How can it be founded by jesus Christ?
We believe that when Christ was on the earth he established the church and after he was crucified and his apostles died it was gone from the earth until Joseph Smith was able to restore the Gospel through divine guidance.
So why did God wait so long then to restore it
Also do you not know this verse?
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:8-9
Well we believe that it is the same Gospel as Jesus Christ
I'll respond in a sec I need to get ready for work
So you're saying only joesph Smith was the only to that was worthy to read and understand that Golden plates that was in reformed Egyptain so he gave to angel to bring it back to heaven?
@Pizzacork Alrighty, so as far as I understand Christ waited until Joseph Smith was alive because he was the right man for the job. Everyone has unique personalities and he knew that Joseph would be able to get it done.
Do you not know revelation?
Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.
Revelation 5:2-4
@hyperiacob if you could rephrase your question that would be cool your previous paragraph
Do you not understand my question?
Not the first one. It's probably just the Grammar mistakes but I don't fully get it
Oh ok
So no one else in 1700 years was worthy of bringing it back except Joseph Smith? What qualities singled him out that made him worthy of the task
No one is worthy though
Read the verse i put up
To be completely honest with you, I don't know. But I have faith that God and Jesus Christ do.
I'm assuming you're making the connection that the scrolls are the plates? I don't know those chapters very well. But if that is what it is, then my answer to that would be that no one at that time was worthy or able to.
See that’s sidestepping the question though. If you want to convince me you have to give something other than just have faith
Jesus was worthy to open the scroll
That's not sidestepping in my opinion, I really don't know and I don't have anything to tell you otherwise at the moment. Faith goes a long way. There are always going to be portions of any church that you don't know everything to.
I mean you made a claim that Joseph Smith was the right man for the job. Can you back that claim up cause otherwise how do you know he was.
I could claim the Catholic Church is the right one but you just have to have faith the pope was put there by god
It doesn’t prove anything
Ok I was going to be Mormon so I looked it to it, I was doing research and hearing from Mormons and I decided to step away because its i felt it in my heart not to go because of the many teachings that sound wrong.
No, I cannot. But God knows all and for some reason he saw him to be the right man.
