I'll respond in a sec I need to get ready for work
No worries
So you're saying only joesph Smith was the only to that was worthy to read and understand that Golden plates that was in reformed Egyptain so he gave to angel to bring it back to heaven?
@Pizzacork Alrighty, so as far as I understand Christ waited until Joseph Smith was alive because he was the right man for the job. Everyone has unique personalities and he knew that Joseph would be able to get it done.
Do you not know revelation?
Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.
Revelation 5:2-4
@hyperiacob if you could rephrase your question that would be cool your previous paragraph
Do you not understand my question?
Not the first one. It's probably just the Grammar mistakes but I don't fully get it
Oh ok
So no one else in 1700 years was worthy of bringing it back except Joseph Smith? What qualities singled him out that made him worthy of the task
No one is worthy though
Read the verse i put up
To be completely honest with you, I don't know. But I have faith that God and Jesus Christ do.
I'm assuming you're making the connection that the scrolls are the plates? I don't know those chapters very well. But if that is what it is, then my answer to that would be that no one at that time was worthy or able to.
See that’s sidestepping the question though. If you want to convince me you have to give something other than just have faith
Jesus was worthy to open the scroll
That's not sidestepping in my opinion, I really don't know and I don't have anything to tell you otherwise at the moment. Faith goes a long way. There are always going to be portions of any church that you don't know everything to.
I mean you made a claim that Joseph Smith was the right man for the job. Can you back that claim up cause otherwise how do you know he was.
I could claim the Catholic Church is the right one but you just have to have faith the pope was put there by god
It doesn’t prove anything
Ok I was going to be Mormon so I looked it to it, I was doing research and hearing from Mormons and I decided to step away because its i felt it in my heart not to go because of the many teachings that sound wrong.
No, I cannot. But God knows all and for some reason he saw him to be the right man.
Sorry it doesn't make sense, it sounds as if chirst died in vain
I think much of it comes from prayer. Some questions will be answered by the Lord but others will not because either you need to put more effort or it's not the right time to learn it or sometimes you will never learn the answer to a question.
You're good.
I'm free to chat later but I've gtg to work now
Funny enough I finshed work right now
I think it relates to the setting as well. The United States was a new country with religious liberty and filled with people seeking new and better lives. Maybe this was the social-political climate that the Lord was waiting for to restore His gospel in which it would be able to thrive
I feel thats like the technicality of a satanist who worships demons rather than satan himself. Its not the exact same but no different either.
LDS members only worship God(and Jesus? depending on the definition of worship), we don't worship any of the prophets
the catholics they pray to mary, ect
I have a feeling if Jesus came back rn he would only have a few followers
I think this is cool in case other people like translated texts
Audio transcription of the pehoeji bible
If Jesus came back today people would say he is problematic, needed to be censored, that he was racist and a terrible person and would have droves of people calling him intolerant and wishing for his downfall. Though then again, Revelations says when he comes back, there is going to be a lot of blood.
Yep and the church would call him a false prophet
The church has kind of become a business now
Not really.
there will always be televangalists, Joseph Smiths and people pretending to be christians if only to delude themselves into feeling like they are good enough people to get into heaven on their own.
Saying that the church is a business implys you think all churches teach the same thing and are in it for the profit. You clearly have not gone in the south and seen thousands of the little churches that are just barely alive doing the same thing they have always done.
