Background of the act:
H.R.8428 Hong Kong People's Freedom and Choice Act needs to be passed by Senate before 18 Dec, and signed into US law by 3 Jan before the current term runs out. By passing the act, US would offer temporary protected status for eligible HK residents, which includes those who have experience of past persecution or fear for future persecution. This would mean a lot for HKers!
