The government would assign you to a job in order to maintain productivity. It cant afford for everyone to be an artist or poet. If there is low supply in a key job that nobody wants to fulfill, the government will make you work there. Unlike the free market where you re compensated for undesirable jobs with a generous pay check

Also command economies are terrible at locating where there is a shortage of supply and demand, aswell as the value of things accurately in the society

I never said nobody would work. I said the state would have to make them work because with no incentive to work they won't work. People don't work for free. Food production isn't wasteful, yes you have multiple brand for different cereals for example. You call it wasteful, I call it competing brands with profit incentives to create the best good out of all the competing brands for the feasibly lowest price. The idea you get to work whatever job you want under socialism is false and if that was implemented the government would have to step in immediately because people either wouldn't work or would work cosy jobs like arts. Nobody wants to be a truck driver, a doctor for peoples anuses, a janitor, a bin collector, someone who cleans toilet bowls. These jobs are naturally undesirable so under a free market that problem corrects itself because of supply and demand. The wage increases the more scarce the job is, which is reason number 928 of why Labour theory of value is stupid.

Yeah without the advanced capital created by the free market the amount farmers could produce in a set amount of time would be as high.

In other words a free market greatly increases productivity

Farmers nowadays with their tractors and harvest machines can produce more for the same price than farmers decades ago

@fig Because there's no competition for the most part. Government says "produce 'x' tons of food." If you can't then the government says "here's more money." Instead of having 'x' money and figuring out how to generate the most food with said money.
