im just in sweatpants and a tshirt so

2018-01-31 04:51:24 UTC

i was kinda dying

2018-01-31 04:51:27 UTC

Carrying around a Christian medallion/crucifix sounds comfy.

2018-01-31 04:51:50 UTC

About a hundred and thirty years ago when folks were driving a herd down the Chisholm Trail, and entire herd of cattle froze to death in the Texas snow.

2018-01-31 04:51:59 UTC

lol

2018-01-31 04:52:01 UTC

F

2018-01-31 04:52:17 UTC

I mean it was something. People had to dig any survivors out.

2018-01-31 04:52:32 UTC

The death screams of hundreds of cows wailing in the night.

2018-01-31 04:52:52 UTC

thats scary

2018-01-31 04:54:35 UTC

I still need to work up the resolve to go to mass alone.
@Thomas any tips for a former non-dom trying to get into SSPX Catholisism?

2018-01-31 04:55:30 UTC

Hell I myself am slowly converting from Baptism (whoops). But, from what I've studied, it's best to simply find the closest Latin Mass practicing chapel near you, research the dress code, and go accordingly.

2018-01-31 04:55:58 UTC

And from what I might be able to discern, there's no resolve needed for such a thing. Only a reverence for the hierarchy which God gave us to uphold.

2018-01-31 04:56:06 UTC

You'll be welcomed.

2018-01-31 04:56:29 UTC

I went to the SSPX mass nearest me, it's only a 30 min drive, but I didn't really know what to do with my hands, you know

2018-01-31 04:56:50 UTC

Like bowing before entering the pews, the hand motion thing,

2018-01-31 04:57:00 UTC

Well, you could, during one of the less busy week days, go and see the father and ask your questions.

2018-01-31 04:57:18 UTC

Are Catholic churches usually open during the week?

2018-01-31 04:57:25 UTC

They hold mass, yes.

2018-01-31 04:57:41 UTC

For exaple, there's a LAtin Mass church called Mater Dei here in Fort Worth,

2018-01-31 04:57:50 UTC

their entire schedule goes through the week.

2018-01-31 04:59:08 UTC

That's interesting

2018-01-31 04:59:26 UTC

I'll look into trying to speak to someone there

2018-01-31 04:59:35 UTC

Good.

2018-01-31 05:00:17 UTC

Last question, do you know the process of conversion to Catholicism?

2018-01-31 05:00:39 UTC

I know obviously not to partake in the Holy Eucharist yet

2018-01-31 05:01:20 UTC

But, are there other things I should be aware of as a non-Catholic Christian going to SSPX mass?

2018-01-31 05:17:20 UTC

Well, obviously be very quiet, and very still. If you intend to take women, they must not speak (at all, like at all literal rule of latin mass) and they must to an extent, be veiled. Not fully, just a gentle cloth covering the top of their heads.

2018-01-31 05:17:49 UTC

You're (if I'm not mistaken) also expected to learn specific prayers, ideally the Latin ones,

2018-01-31 05:18:00 UTC

but I think they've shfited that in the last centuries.

2018-01-31 05:18:03 UTC

ALSO,

2018-01-31 05:18:26 UTC

this is a personal hypothesis, but, one nonetheless grounded in reality.

2018-01-31 05:19:26 UTC

If you are to get your Benedictine crucifix blessed, then it would be better for you to do it from a priest (who is) or a member of the Benedictine order as it was entirely exclusively able to be blessed by members of the Benedictine order up until about the sixties or so.

2018-01-31 05:19:37 UTC

If you can have that, you'll have the genuine article.

2018-01-31 05:19:51 UTC

Folks say that the origin of the blessing is no longe rimportant,

2018-01-31 05:19:55 UTC

but I don't believe that.

2018-01-31 05:21:12 UTC

@Thomas Thanks a ton, man, that really helps!

2018-01-31 05:21:34 UTC

I'm glad I can provide any insight with the little scrape of knowledge I've gained looking into the issue.

2018-01-31 05:21:41 UTC

I'll be sure to follow your instruction, and I'll let you know how it goes

2018-01-31 05:21:42 UTC

It really is a beautiful and holy order.

2018-01-31 05:21:51 UTC

I'm curious myself.

2018-01-31 05:21:59 UTC

I always loved the chants.
