I adore this flag, it's my own suggestion for (of course I love my own product) the flag of "Scandinavia", if we ever got around to making our own united country instead of Sweden, Iceland and so on.

I believe a flag should either be beautiful and colourful, or very simple and crude

The scandinavian flag there is really an eyeburner and reminds me of the fast food joint "Hotdog On A Stick"

Not really, in all honesty. Especially up in the Pacific Northwest- excepting the major cities, it's already majority white. Great land, great climate, good hunting and the like...

Well with hardship comes growth, so I believe so. If we wanted a cushy life, I'm sure you wouldn't be thinking about creating a town in the middle of the pacific north west

Part of the point, after all, is leaving the comfortable city life behind to harden ourselves by hardship.

This is a basic flag template I mocked up some time back, I fused the British flag with the Nordic Cross. Make of it what you will. I feel as if it's too simple.
