noice, I'll head there then

2017-10-31 21:08:59 UTC

she had already graduated but was still hanging around looking for a husband, lol

2017-10-31 21:09:59 UTC

I'll do the opposite then. Just camp out nearby and start lurking around

2017-10-31 21:10:37 UTC

so in Maine there's land for 300,000/750 acres

2017-10-31 21:10:44 UTC

that's roughly 400 per acre

2017-10-31 21:11:13 UTC

that's a crazy good deal

2017-10-31 21:12:18 UTC

3000 for 7.5 acres, which is what each of us could get if this is everyone

2017-10-31 21:12:38 UTC

and that's enough to be sustainable

2017-10-31 21:13:04 UTC

I'd say if everyone saved up/loaned each other 10,000 we'd all bet set

2017-10-31 21:13:29 UTC

I have my heart set on MT/ID tho

2017-10-31 21:13:53 UTC

They have way more Mountains

2017-10-31 21:14:21 UTC

if only the Californians didn't raid CO there'd be some good land here too

2017-10-31 21:14:23 UTC

@Loren is going to be my neighbor

2017-10-31 21:14:57 UTC

@OOX of Flames I live near a pretty large town/towns so no village starting required:)

2017-10-31 21:15:30 UTC

yeah I like that strategy

2017-10-31 21:15:35 UTC

so you can be as close to town as you want to be

2017-10-31 21:15:44 UTC

but everyone's still at most a half hour or so out

2017-10-31 21:15:45 UTC

Exactly

2017-10-31 21:16:10 UTC

so we could still meet up once a month or participate in politics

2017-10-31 21:16:28 UTC

You plan on driving 30-40 minutes to go visit people but it's not bad.

2017-10-31 21:16:52 UTC

For sure. We meet up with a couple families once a month just for that. Fellowship with like-minded people.

2017-10-31 21:17:36 UTC

I know 3 men who are currently running, or have already ran and won, in the local politics.

2017-10-31 21:20:47 UTC

wow that's beautiful

2017-10-31 21:21:04 UTC

46 acres

2017-10-31 21:21:18 UTC

still awesome

2017-10-31 21:21:50 UTC

needs moar trees

2017-10-31 21:22:17 UTC

lots of grazing for cattle though:)

2017-10-31 21:22:44 UTC

wonder about water...

2017-10-31 21:24:04 UTC

Seems to be about 1000 per acre in idaho

2017-10-31 21:25:06 UTC

Would it be too invasive to ask for everyone's savings at some point?

2017-10-31 21:25:59 UTC

or we could start some online website like gofundme where there's no time limit and we just keep socking money away in it with no risk involved?

2017-10-31 21:28:22 UTC

the money issue is a big one

2017-10-31 21:28:45 UTC

we have some savings put away for this, but it's for our own piece of land

2017-10-31 21:29:16 UTC

putting it all into a pool and then divvying it up almost always leads to tension and animosity

2017-10-31 21:29:51 UTC

we might have better luck achieving a point of saturation within a region

2017-10-31 21:31:06 UTC

in other words, we all move up to a general location, all within a half hour drive to a smallish town, or something like that

2017-10-31 21:31:27 UTC

so we each buy our own lots in places that fit our own budgets

2017-10-31 21:37:58 UTC

I think that works better than a "commune." Mostly because of the animosity thing:) Dividing a big chunk of land, 200-300 acres, with 2-3 families would probably be doable.
