Okay I read an article about the <#547645432604393482>. Basically, the International Society of Anglo-Saxonists has been accused of racism, elitism and other stuff. They’re contemplating changing their name in response, as if that will do anything. Then the article goes on to say that ‘Anglo-Saxon’ has been used by racist people in racist ways. The article also mentions that British scholars are taken aback by the whole thing, because they actually use the term for the group and culture of those who lived in England before the Norman conquests. The article comes to no definite conclusion about the whole thing.
I and everyone I’ve spoken to in the topic think that the idea that the word is intrinsically racist is rediculous. It seems like the only ones who think that the term is intrinsically racist are people taking shots at the ISAS.
