*dabs furiously*
I approve of this as well.
I'm campaigning with the slogan "Make American Stronk Again"
@Suomi Stronk same
Carrier Strike Group is the official term.
Dang. Not as familiar with navy terms š
āThe President this morning hit a hard dab on the Rio Grande-Washington memorial wall separating our country from Mexico to raucous applauseā
"Make America 'real, red-blooded, working class American' again." š
And like we could not use the same Army Engineers that built roads and fortifications in Afghanistan, combined with the DOT that has a massive budget and capability. Plus the myriad of radar equipped Navy ships. Borders can easily be secured.
@ophiuchus Noice.
Unironically though if I was elected, I'd 100% be going Monroe Doctrine, severely decreasing the overall size of our standing army but focusing more on reserve/state forces. Not a single man or woman deployed overseas, but instead defending the border. Hell, even send them to places like Chicago or Omaha and crack down on the gangs there. Foreign policy of America would officially be us giving everyone the middle finger.
@Suomi Stronk I like the idea of going to a Swiss system.
The Boer and South African Commando Systems were pretty similiar, and achieved amazing results against numerically, technologically, and economically superior enemies.
@PontifexMaximus - Ky Yeah, that video's pretty awesome.
Anyone know if thereās a correlation between women not being married/independent and the creation of a large and prominent police force
I just feel like that has to have some sort of correlation, since there would be more people in need of protection.
To my knowledge, not really. I mean one can imagine a high crime area would likely see an increase in spending in law enforcement agencies if possible, so that would be the only correlation I could see. @NITRODUBS
@NITRODUBS @Suomi Stronk ...and just the fact that there's elevated crime means that there's a higher demand for law enforcement services, even if said demand isn't being met.
I guess the only correlation I could make then is that children raised by single mothers are more likely to commit crime, but even then that kinda targets a uh... specific demographic lol
I just heard someone talking about that
@NITRODUBS Yeah, but's there's no reason to shy away from *certain demographics* being disproportionately responsible for crime. That's one of the cases that we're desperately trying to make š
...unless your research is being presented in a venue where that's off-limits.
Oh no I get that, I was just trying to relate that back to the single mothers/independent women in general thing.
But... also most single mothers are that demographic
Oh. Yeah. That's what I was getting at, lol.
...but, of course, it holds true for everyone.
I think white single mothers are still even different though, because I saw a study where impoverished white children commit far less violent crime than black children, but white children/adults still commit a lot more petty crimes when raised in those types of homes
And Iād like to use an anecdote I have (as silly as that sounds). But we have two highly impoverished areas in my town, the east and the west. The east made up almost entirely of white peoples, and the West with black. The east has decently low violent crime rates, but drug arrests and theft are common. In the West, violent crime, theft and drug use are all VERY high
I dunno. My kid is in single parent homes and does just fine.
Iām definitely not trying to say every kid from a single parent is a criminal lol. Please donāt take that too personally, Iām just going from statistics
This. You can have places like Chicago where a relatively large amount of tax dollars are spent on law enforcement, but even still they don't have near the manpower to be able to effectively crack down the crime.
@NITRODUBS For sure, there are HUGE distinctions between racial groups when it comes to the prominence of criminality among single-mother households. I mostly grew up in one, in a neighborhood with many others, and our idea of the "criminal element" was that you didn't go over to play at one kid's house in particular, because his dad was rumored to "smoke reefer," lol, but violent crime was unheard of.
Doesn't mean it's optimal, though, obviously.
Nothing personal taken. Although, he is different as his parents are divorced, not just a one night stand fling.
I came from a single parent home too, I know the feel. My mom was widowed, but i definitely struggled without a father figure, up until I realized I was struggling because of that and became self aware.
And yeah I definitely suggest a two parent home if possible, but Iām willing to understand the differences in demographics
@NITRODUBS Yeah. Well, widows are a different case in that they didn't abandon their wedding vows, but instead lost their spouse. Sorry you had to go through that, though.
Jaooooooo
...and all I meant by that was that I don't fault widows for their situation, though I think it ultimately behooves them to remarry.
So āabandon wedding vowsā but widows can remarry? Donāt think I get your morals here.
"Till death do us part." Death nullifies wedding vows.
