but we started kingmaker in roll20 before he bought fantasy grounds

2019-06-07 18:00:13 UTC

Ah

2019-06-07 18:00:36 UTC

I wanna try out kingmaker. Maybe adapt it to a homebrew

2019-06-07 18:01:28 UTC

I know FG is cheaper in the long run, and has some cool features. I think iirc it is just missing the dynamic lighting. Which is usually a pain on roll20 anyway

2019-06-07 18:02:14 UTC

This is second hand tho. So was wanting someone's real opinion before dumping the money

2019-06-07 18:03:59 UTC

FG is being rebuilt from the ground up in Unity or something

2019-06-07 18:04:29 UTC

so better performance, same powerful features and brand new rendering shit for map - including dynamic lighting

2019-06-07 18:07:02 UTC

backwards compatible with all the content packs

2019-06-07 18:07:20 UTC

Oh shit. Then literally the only thing it wont have is sound/video which was janky with roll20 and useless anywho

2019-06-07 18:07:48 UTC

if you check the vids on that page it's looking shit hot

2019-06-07 18:08:47 UTC

I'll check it out. If this is the case I will buy it without hesitation once its out.

2019-06-07 18:09:37 UTC

our GM came into a pretty nice inheritance when his grandfather died, one of the things he bought was the host license for FG

2019-06-07 18:09:57 UTC

so if he is GM anyone else can use FG totally free

2019-06-07 18:10:22 UTC

Yea I knew that part.

2019-06-07 18:10:25 UTC

which is actually a pretty baller business model

2019-06-07 18:10:57 UTC

we're gonna pitch in to buy him the tyrant's grasp data packs

2019-06-07 18:11:04 UTC

Yea. Downside is no free user GMs like roll20, so kinda a partial paywall. But still a superior product is worth it

2019-06-07 18:11:22 UTC

honestly it seems like it's worth the cash

2019-06-07 18:11:37 UTC

It is compared to roll20 sub model

2019-06-07 18:11:42 UTC

roll20 is buggy as fuck and paywalls essential features

2019-06-07 18:14:05 UTC

He breaks the costs down the best

2019-06-07 18:14:54 UTC

the character sheets in roll20 are a total mess

2019-06-07 18:15:03 UTC

Well most are fan made

2019-06-07 18:15:12 UTC

The compendium is mostly srd

2019-06-07 18:15:43 UTC

Downside is you get most of the monster manual with roll20 sub, but have to buy it in FG. Iirc

2019-06-07 18:16:05 UTC

hmm idk about that

2019-06-07 18:16:38 UTC

I could be confusing it. I think he was comparing 5e, not pathfinder however

2019-06-07 18:17:19 UTC

I do all my character shit in herolab

2019-06-07 18:17:49 UTC

Ah

2019-06-07 18:18:07 UTC

I used to just use a form fillable pdf

2019-06-07 18:18:22 UTC

I'm a noob lol

2019-06-07 18:18:28 UTC

herolab makes it easy to be a retard

2019-06-07 18:19:02 UTC

Fair. Tbh you dont get better unless you try the old school way a few times

2019-06-07 18:19:22 UTC

if I was playing an irl game I'd do it on paper

2019-06-07 18:19:23 UTC

Crack the books. Write on a sheet

2019-06-07 18:19:40 UTC

You can do it technologically, it does the same

2019-06-07 18:19:45 UTC

Pdfs all the way

2019-06-07 18:20:03 UTC

I'm meaning avoiding the auto fill sheets ext

2019-06-07 18:20:51 UTC

the bonus of herolab is that it calculates all the bonuses for you, makes life significantly easier when you've got a fuck ton of high level gear lolo
